Ah, I forgot I'd started this thread...
Thanks for the photo Yam6, but I was thinking of something a little less Heath Robinson (ahem)... Until Clear Alternatives come up with the goods, this will have to suffice: http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/r...x/DSC00015.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/r...x/DSC00007.jpg xxx ps. still like the idea of a single left hand can and a false right hand one for tools as zOU posted... |

Hi JMo, that rear turn signal you have, I remember you posted this before but I couldn't find it, could you please let me know again where you got it? And how do you find them? And is the installation complicated, for a technically-challenged like myself?

http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=8822 That explains pretty much everything... the company who make the elecropods also make the LED 'indicator strips' as a pair... Fitting is a bit fiddly - you have measure the hole centres carefully (bearing in mind you need to bend the strip in two planes in the middle) and I found that heating up the silicon strip in bowl of hot water helped fitting them into the recess. Then you secure them with clear silicon sealant. Also, you'll need to get one of those flasher relays specifically for LEDs - the Motrax one for Kawasaki's is a direct replacement (connector fits the loom)for the one under the seat, although it is a different shape so you'll have to jiggle the rubber mounting around, but it does fit. Good luck... (or just wait until CA sort out the combi tail light?) xxx |

Any other decent tail mods out there?
Im looking for ideas/inspiration. |
I've made a bracket to move the number plate and indicators up closer to the rear tail light.
made it from 25mm x 3mm flat bar, 260mm long. bent it to shape and drilled holes for the indicators and to mount it. to mount it there are 2 self tapper screws on the inside of the light unit at the bottom. took these out and fitted the bracket. then moved the number plate bracket up, and moved the reflector down where the number plate bracket was. links to pics http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/PICT0117.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/PICT0124.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/PICT0119.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/PICT0120.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/PICT0122.jpg |
looks smart, i like it!
did you use the standard plate? looks a wee bit large, think i'm tempted to go for a 7x5.5 funny this thread should come up again, i've just ordered my new plate lamp to do this mod. Pete. |
