it hasn't been done before. You'll also need the x front brake caliper and disc.

The forks a different, different wheel travel, different caster angles, trail. I would say stay with the r fork. Unless you want to spend some serious money, than go for a WP fork with the OTR custom clamp. Then you need also a new handlebar+brake caliper+front wheel (Excel). On the back than you need to lift the bike with link raisers and put a Ohlings shock (if possible the Ohlings for a XTZ > bigger travel). This is already done by another forum member and make the bike looking great but more important, much better suspension ;)

So i need -
  • 2no brake spacers 25mm +-0.0 x 6mm +- 0.0 tolerence ?
  • Also need to buy the XTX wheel RIMS and make them fit to my XTR hub (Central)
  • Make 2no (or just 1?) spacers (bushes) 32mm Dia(Diameter) x 17mm Id (inside diameter) to take up the space either side of the XTR hub? What length are these/this?
  • The wheel bridge isnt important so i can just make a bracket to support the mud guard or will the front wheel fit ok without modifiying the guard?
Not to sure if i have got all this correct so please let me know if i am being stupid/dumb. :laughing11:
Thanks again.

Old thread, but I'm hoping someone sees this.. :)

I'm in for the same mod here, excel 17 inch 3,5 with an R-disc on R-forks and R-brake caliper. I mounted the rim today with stock spacers on the wheel axle and it kinda fits. I'ts roughly 6 mm offset towards the caliper. Havent got a tire on it and it will probably be tight and i'll have to remove the mud guard.

Any one run this setup without custom spacers? :)

Edit:

Spacers needed are 15-6=9mm and 27,5+6=33,5~33mm or just add one of 6mm.

Cheers!
