Avon Distanzia's - no Production date via Avon until end of July 2008

All,

Please be advised that AVON have confirmed that at this moment in time they have NO prodcution date set for the next batch of Distanzias. They state that towards the end of July they will schedule a new date for the production of Distanzias, but it will not be before the end of July at the very earliest.

Therefore, if any supplier is telling you that they are due in shortly then basically they are telling porky pies.

Also, the Dave Milling issue over tyres not in stock is also worse than we all thought. Simplistically, the ones he buys and sells so cheap are DA's, that stands for Diminished Appearance, and when selling them AVOV stamp DA on the tread of the tyre as well as a sticker on the inside of the tyre. It appears from what i have found out that certain companies 'buff' off the DA stamp on the tread of the tyre and sell it as NEW.

Furthermore, E-Bay have written back to me about my complaint with this company and have eluded that they may/will have their ID revoked very shorlty due to the number of complaints about there lack of delivery, plus the fact that a DA tyre is actually a 'second' as far as AVON are concerned and should be Sold clearly stating that the tyre is a DA.

I hope the above is useful, so if you do need tyres then you may have to pay over the odds Guys n Girls until AVON sort their next production date out.

Deep Joy, or not as the case may be.

Cheers

WB

Good investigating mate, I am going to have a look at this DA mark on my tyres. I have to say this is a little poor from Avon as well.

I am tempted to take my Distanzias of my bike and sell them on here as it looks like they are going up in value!!!

Tony,

The DA stamp is usually associated with a tyre at the beginning and end of a batch run. It is also howver used on a seconds tyre. AVON try to ensure that trade buyers highlight this DA stamp to the end buyers (US) but it appears that there are a few dodgy few out there who are trying to make a buck or two. DMillings have also adverties tyres that are over 5 years old, which within the tyre industry is the end of life of any tyre, especially if it has been left on the shelpf for quite a while.

I have just bought the last one from Essential Rubber (after WorryBrother's call-thanks), 100 delivered, not too bad really as the local place i last used wanted 105 and obviously have none in stock.
Just need to get it fitted when it turns up (better bloody come this time).

Well help might come from Carbon Cans Co. !! :CCC:

I have discussed with Simon the possibility to see if he knows a decent Avon distributor for us to buy in bulk at an affordable price, and he does!!

He's asked me to send him the exact details/sizes of the tyres for him to pass to this distributor and hopefully we should get a group quote for buying these in bulk.

HOWEVER before I commit to this deal, I inform you that I don't want to lose my face with the possible embarassment of people ordering first and then pulling out, so once I have the details sorted with CCC, I will need to receive money up front (Paypal and your address a must) and only then I will order 10 sets or so. But if I don't get the money in advance it's goodbye Vienna.

So watch this space ;)
