Hi Kev

1st time l put a POST on your site...
I just picked up a virtually new untouched XT660X this week. still under Yamaha warranty and had 1500km on the clock...
2 years ago l wanted a bike to get back on the road after a short absence, my friend after months convincing me, i bought a 2002 R1. BIG mistake,
i wanted a XT660R/X didnt matter..sold the bike a couple of weeks ago and bought my dream bike of the XT660X. l dont like road bikes, trailbikes and adventure bikes are for me..

After searching your site, l found this mod. my bike done the popping sound, l followed your advice and done the mod..and mate what a big difference its made to the bike. Feels so much better and seems to take off a lot better...

Im in the process of buying the MTC exhausts and dealing with Paul from there. He gave me a great price on a set of mufflers. Just finalising everything then payment will be made.
and lm looking into a K&N air filter and Iridium plug for it also...

thanks
again
Ash

hi..
dose the AIS feed air into both Exhaust ports ?..
or just the right as shown in the pic...
why I ask I'm wondering if that could be the reason
why the right pipe gets hotter than the left ????

i have a 2006 xtx with pipercross panel filter.i will buy leovince or arrow exhausts next month.i would like to know if it is better to buy an AGR blanket from OTR or do the kev's mod with the bolt.if i will use the blanket from OTR it's necessary to remove all the ais valve?
does this mod have any effect to the fuel consumption of the bike?

Is it ok to do ais mod on a 2011 xt

If you want to remove weight then remove the AIS, otherwise blocking off the pipe will be fine.

The mod has no effect on the fuel consumption.

What with the other 'end'?

Hi,
I'm looking to do this mod shortly on my standard 2010 XTZ.
When I pull off the pipe and block it, what do I do with part that the pipe was previously attached to?
Thanks for this and the great site.
Jon

PS I typed the above and then read further that I shouldn't do the AIS mod with standard exhaust, however, others might appreciate the answer!
