Took all in 3 days from taking bike in to collecting it from them, they reckon on two days for warranty parts.

Yep i took the cover off the side and looked at the number ending 0 on the ecu.

Guys you dont understand, both ecu's are original(ending with 0 or 1)only the ecu ending with 0 was first that Yamaha was fitting on bike, because that ecu was foulty(it does't mean that every ecu that ends with 0 is foulty) Yamaha made new one that ends with 1,I am first owner and my ecu ends with 1 (2005. XTR)

Old ECU = Power?

Hi!
Talked to the Yamaha dealer today. A mechanic there told me that the new ECU gave less horsepower, because it`s more rider friendly. The faulthy/old one gives much better power because it`s more "race" set up...He had tried them both....Any one else who has triedthem both???

Some guys here have replaced ECU-s and nobody said that

What`s the first thing you notice about having faulty ecu?

Sorry for my bad english, but can someone explain to me what`s the first thing you notice when you drive with faulty ecu? (explain in simple words please)

What is surging?

My frame number ends with ............9978, am I sure that I have the new one then?

again sorry for my bad english...

don't worry about your english PJS,

Surging: you try to ride the bike gently with minimum throttle and your bikes surges meaning it seems like the the power gets instantly cut off and reconnects giving you a triggered feeling of someone switching the engine on and off repeatedly. This only happens at low regimes, not on full revolution.

Yamaha admitted in their original report that the old ECU would send wrong fuelling parameters to the injector resulting in the bike burning incorrect fuel mixtures constantly.

If this is still not clear to you, Bjorn (Stoppsladd) might be able to give you some clearer explanation in your own language.

Ain`t I supposed too have the new ecu then?

No your frame number is obviously outside the "faulty" range so your bike should have the correct ECU

If you read all the threads on fuelling, TPS etc. you will find that even the bikes with the new ecu's suffer from surging and that is why people either ghet a power commander or a Kev Mod.

It`s very litlle I notice it. Just with almost nothing throttle on low revs.

Can`t wait to get my Akrapovic cans and DNA Stage 2 filter!!!!!
