I'll have to do a bit of research to work out what would be required to make a DIY LED tacho. Can anyone point me in the direction of any sites that might explain how it works and what components are necessary?

This site has some basic info. the guy never finished it by the looks of things though.

3 things im missing I cant see without diag. mode:
Revs Coolant temp Voltage so I ordered this yesterday: http://www.holeshot-diffusion.fr/bou...BA023W00_1.jpg http://kosoeurope.com/shop/product_i...ahlmesser.html It does all those 3 things nicely, plus it can display A/F ratio (not sure if it works with XT, but this i dont need anyway) and i think, oil temp also. Will post the pics here when mounted, it should arrive within 2 weeks. Its not cheap, but its the only one I found that does exactly what I need it to do. |
Can a Tenere Rev Counter be used on a R

I would imagine that the Tenere unit would be quite expensive and would obviously require a custom bracket to install BUT in terms of compatibilty and functionality it could a great solution. |
I use one of the digital tachos that the go kart racers use - a small rectangular box with one wire with a clamp that goes onto the plug lead - works really well, small, waterproof and it fits above the speedo with some velcro strip.
About $50 (AUD) if you look around. |
Speedway instruments make digital tacho's for v twins, they may do a single cylinder version
