XT660.com Annual Rally 2018

Update.................

Ok, thats the National Rally sorted. It will be at The Red Lion, at Llanafan fawr, 01597 860204 on the beautiful Beulah road. Dates are wknd 3rd and 4th August. Good beer and food in the pub, and some great roads for ride outs in the area. Camping is 5 a night, there are no showers, but there is a hut in the field with a toilet and sink.
Now, the pub also rents out the cottage next door which obviously would have a shower etc. The cost to book the cottage would be 140 for both nights and it is currently available for those dates. What are your views on booking the cottage and splitting the cost amongst all of us, so we have full facilities. also we could then draw lots for who gets to sleep in a bed, for a bit of fun http://www.thumperclub.com/smf/Smile...ult/smiley.gif

Put it in your diary and start planning.

This will be run in conjunction with the Thumper Club to boost numbers.
I will be in touch with some of the South Wales lads to see if someone would lead an off road rideout.

I will start a listing of hopeful attendees later this week.

Cheers Steve

Looks good Steve.. Hope to be there .
Would not bother with the cottage , don't make more work for yourself

Cheers

It wouldn't be the same without you!

Steve

Today 104 views and just a couple of us communicating!

It's no wonder that the Cap'n Moto is fed up with the site and shutting down. The best attendance that we have attained, I think was Darrens meet up in the Lakes, probably about 2010.
The meet up in North wales had 25 Teneres and other XT's. We seem to be going downhill, that is why I decided to incorporate the Thumper Club, still single cylinder motos. PS some of you might be interested that the XT owners club are having a meet next weekend 18th - 20th May at Baskerville Hall nr Hay on Wye. Then you will see some astonishing XT's.

Toodleoo! Steve

greatescape 14-05-18 22:01

Going to do my best to get to the meet Steve. ....hopefully see you there! Steve

Arn 14-05-18 22:13

I've booked the Friday off to make a long weekend of it. We might not get a 2019 meet at this rate!

I've also booked the Monday off to recover :beer[1]:

National Rally 2018

Is it necessary to make a booking to attend?

Pete.

Harry00 15-05-18 00:18

I will definitely be there Steve! And trying to get some others with me as well, but cannot guarantee that. Cheers from Holland!

Rene 15-05-18 00:30

Hi Steve! I put it in my diary! Will be there!

Arn 15-05-18 08:45

I've lost track of who's going now. Maybe we should start an attendee list like we have for the last few meets. I'll start a new thread when I get back in front of my PC. We can keep this thread for chit chat, gossip and general Tom foolery.

I'm planning on attending this. Great location in Wales! Brilliant riding both on and off road around there.

I know a few other XT owners who are not on this site, so I'll see if they fancy it as well and add their names if they can make it.

Gas_Up_Lets_Go 15-05-18 11:29

Well played Steve.

Unfortunately, the dates just don't work for me.....

We did have great attendance in the early days of the 'Lakes Tours', it just got a little stale after a while.

That's great. I do know of a couple that are coming over from Holland and there will be a good turnout from the Thumper club group.
If you are aware of or could organise some sort of off road rideout that would be great.
I plan to go there as soon as to have a root around and see what I can come up with.
I fancy going to see the Red Kite feeding station not too far away.

Steve

PS .........and of course Timbo will be there!

aliwakeskate 16-05-18 23:15

Steve,

I've done a fair bit of off road round there, so should be able to cobble a good day out on the trails. As always, it depends on group size and ability so I'll draw up a few routes and play it by ear. I'm happy to lead a group on the trails.

If Timbos there I'm definitely there! Will be great to catch up with him.

Starko 17-07-18 17:47

Hi guys,

Is this still going ahead and can I just turn up and meet you guys?

Thanks,
Greg.

steveD 17-07-18 21:13

Yes, still going ahead but interest from this site is not as expected!

I hope to be there early as i need a bit of a rest so come on up and meet some really good guys, have some good real ale and we have a spectacular ride planned.

Cheers Steve

steveD 19-07-18 00:09

Anymore coming?????????????????:blob9:

Harry00 21-07-18 02:54

.......................and in a weeks time we will be in Wales for the Annual rally.
I suppose the Captains decision to shut down the forum is reflected in the enthusiasm for the rally!!!:irony:

Dear Steve hope you're well my good chum, the closure of the forum depends on many aspects, one is of course members participation apathy, plus we've lost any and all support from sponsors because with all the XT range being discontinued, no new products were being designed, MTC cans sales dropped to zero and DNA pulled out because their country (Greece) is in a financial mess and they couldn't afford to support us anymore, the forum costs have started to add up, and without any support, I have been running it at a loss for more than two years. I have not minded so far to pay for the running of it, but the apathy I mentioned has caused me to wonder why do I bother, and with the fact that I am retiring, all unnecessary expenditures need to be stopped.

You tell me Steve, can you beat a dead horse?

I'm excited for it mate (the meet up, not the closure). I even set my new tent up in the garden last week to give it a once over before the meet up. Looks like we might even have a dry one!

skimmer 28-07-18 15:23

I'd previously placed my name on the list with the full intention of attending as I really like that part of the world and hoped to put names to faces and exchange a few yarns.
Problem is, I've had a moment and fell off the wagon and bought an Africa Twin, the XT is gone so I don't have a single to to ride any more.

Pete.

That doesn't exclude you.... or anyone else...

Over the years we've had KTMs, Fazers, Tigers (of all sizes!) TTR's and even a couple of 1200Gs's

I hope you have a have a great weekend, but you're not going to get much support from the undecided if you start blaming any shortcomings on them.

I am sorry but I am not having that, Steve is doing a lot to organise this event, it is a fact that a lot of people has let him down, and of course anyone would feel a little disappointed and rightfully so. Please let's not blame Steve.

Thank you

Harry00 03-08-18 00:56

All set now. Last nightshift at this very moment and at 07:00 i will be on my way to Dunkerque to catch the ferry to Dover. See you this evening! Looking forward and HOPEFULLY there will be a few more people than it shows right now.

greatescape 03-08-18 18:59

It's going to be a struggle for me to make it......work is relentless in this heat! . I have a poly tunnel and two greenhouses to look after and am worried about entrusting anyone to water them...it would be a disaster if it isn't done. I'll try my utmost to sort something out and head up tomorrow! Cheers, Steve

greatescape 07-08-18 12:31

Any news on how the meet up/ride out went...? Was gutted I couldn't attend! . Hopefully it went well and was fun! Steve

steveD 07-08-18 22:53

Just got back home!.................a little later that planned but stayed down in Bridgenorth for a couple of days.

The weekend was absolutely brilliant, amazing, fantastic, the best yet!. About 30 turned up including a few XT crowd.

Absolutely fatigued so full debrief to follow when I'm a bit more focussed (ie tomorrow)

Cheers Steve

CaptMoto 08-08-18 01:28

Well done SteveD and all

Harry00 08-08-18 10:08

Thank you all for the great weekend guys, and Steve and Tim in special for the organisation and wonderful rideout!
Sorry i sneeked out a bit on sunday morning Steve. You and all the others were still sleeping like a puppy and did not want to wake you up after what was clearly a heavy night!:nod:

See you next time!
