Trumpy Scrambler

A local bike shop had a Triumph demo day today that I'd booked a ride on the Scrambler. Heading off amongst a Thruxton, Bobber, Speed Triple, Bonneville & Thunderbird there were plenty of heads turning to see what was making that sweet sound. That felt good. It is a beautifully made bike & looks the business. The engine & suspension were the highlight of the bike. Admittedly though I was expecting a little more for a 900, but not to say there wasn't more than enough poke. The seat would take a bit of getting used to & I wouldn't be sure I could happily travel at Highway speed all day on, especially with the lack of wind protection. (Fly scene is on the accessories list)But for a Sunday blast around some of your favorite country roads or a trip to the coffee shop with some mates, it would be a hoot. So going half expecting to be blown away & ready to chop in the Tenere I wasn't at all. It just didn't fit, not me anyway. I like my bikes much the same as I like women, just one good one that covers all bases in my life. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try one as you can turn yourself inside out studying spec sheets & magazine's but until you try something for yourself you just never know. I just like my Tenere a whole lot more now. |
Phew.....thought you had chopped in your Tenere when I saw the photo Desert Racer. ...! You have echoed my thoughts as I recently had an hour on a friends new Triumph Tiger and came to the same conclusion. Brilliant bike, but a 'road' bike. Not the go anywhere /high up/ grunty / roughty-tufty individual bike my Tenere is! . If I were rich I'd have a garage full of bikes, although actually the thing I find myself shortest of is 'time'....Riding time. So I'm sticking with my brilliant Tenere and am going to spend as much time as possible riding it and enjoying it! Steve

Good to hear you are keeping the ten. I must admit I have always thought the scrambler was a nice looking bike and was always tempted by one though I've never ridden one, but was a road bike all day long
