No more Yuasa battery at my Yamaha dealer

I couldn't believe it. My bike wouldn't start yesterday. But to be fair, my Yuasa battery was 6 years old and didn't fail me on my 2 weeks trip in the Highlands (which would have been very inconvenient). It still passed the MOT 2 weeks ago. Big surprise when my Yamaha dealership gave me a GS battery from Taiwan, and it even has the Yamaha sticker on. I wonder if this will be a complete shift from Yausa to GS. And more important wether this one will give me 6 years service!

Incidentally, I couldn't believe how heavy that little battery is. Thats lugging around an anchor to put it mildly. Now you know why dirt bikes have kick start levers and not electric start.

I'll be going for a Shorai Lithium when the time comes. Got one for the missus' KLR recently and I thought the box was empty when it arrived it was so light. It's a massive free weight saving with those bad boys.

Yamaha TTR250 has come with a GS battrey for years now...
prob some other Yamaha's as well...
Could be wrong here.. think I read somewhere
the GS is a budget Yuasa...

If that's true then I'm cross, as I paid the same as for a Yuasa, well actually more since the pound has dropped in value.

"In 2004, Yuasa Japan merged with Japan Storage Battery to form GS Yuasa Corporation."

So, its a Yuasa-ish battery

I ride an 08 XT660Z Tenere and still run the OEM Yuasa battery, at 109.000kms........

That battery weighs 3.7kg. The Shorai only 1 kg. But then it is double the price

Just changed my OE (8 year old) GS battery for a Motobatt AGM battery (45). Even the Motobatt was lighter than the OE battery. Mind you, I could always have a poo and shift a pound too!
