I did consider the motoblatt but my dealer said he's seen quite a few of them fail. But then he would say that. I wonder how motoblatts have served some of the members in this forum particularly how long they last

2 years from the first motobatt in the XTR..

So they're not as good then based on your experience. I wonder what's the shortest life of a Yuasa then. Our winter cold with not using it so much obviously takes its toll

I always plug my bikes into Solar chargers when not used
via the lighter socket/plug...the panels hang in the shed window...

I got just shy of eight years out of the OE Yuasa and replaced is with a Motobatt last April which was 20 cheaper.

The Motobatt is lighter, but in my eyes doesn't feel as good quality and a strongly suspect it won't last anywhere near as long. The other thing that was slightly irritating about the Motobatt is that it isn't actually a straight swap; the terminals need messing about with and the clamping plate needs the lip bending out of it it as there is no slot in the top of the battery for it to locate as there is on the Yuasa.

Funnily enough, my last and current Subarus came with OE Yuasa's. The one in my 1999 Impreza (bought new) was still going strong in 2010 when I changed to a new Legacy, and the Yuasa in that is still fine too nearly seven years on. They are probably the best batteries I have experienced for longevity.

I suspect that I shouldn't have penny-pinched on a Motobatt and gone for the GS or Yuasa which are identical batteries just with different branding. Better the devil you know and all that. Only time will tell I guess...
