Some drivers....!
https://youtu.be/RqrDCVtwpFE Taking the scenic route home after a hot knackering day at work, I pull over to let the car behind whizz by....and this is how he thanks me! Apologies for my language! Steve

"Sorry I didn't see you coming up behind me" - what a ridiculous statement. You were blatantly rammed!
You have the evidence. Report the "accident" to your insurance company, which you are obliged to do, especially if you take it further (make sure you do things by the book). Hopefully he has exchanged details with you and notified his insurance company? If he hasn't, then he has broken the law for failure to report an accident (besides willful damage, driving dangerously etc etc.) Report him to the police and make sure a claim goes in against his insurance (if he has it) for something along the lines of new forks and front wheel. |
I think I might have had a few more swear words coming out

Doesn't surprise me at all. Drivers don't see you when you ride a batternbergh bike in full on dayglo, with flashing blue lights and two tones blaring away.

I agree guys, but. ...it's hard to plan ahead for something like that. I'd already seen him in my mirror, indicated and moved over to let him pass as he was travelling more quickly than I like to down those little lanes. The Tenere is tall and we'll 'lit' and I was at a standstill a safe distance back...I did start to paddle back but too late...I think if I hadn't been blaring the horn he would have hit me even harder...and if I'd been on a tiddly bike or one of the many horse riders down those lanes......Steve

I hope you're ok Steve. I'm really shocked to see what the driver did. He had just passed you and forgot you were there behind him a few seconds later when he reversed. I would say a strong case for losing his licence. He obviously reversed without looking a cardinal sin for any driver.

It was impossible to plan for. Careless driving at best, possible even dangerous on the drivers behalf But, you lived to tell, and you did the right thing in the circumstances. |
So what's the up shot of all this Steve? Bike OK? You OK? Did you get his insurance details? You do know, if he didn't exchange details, you can apply to get them from Motor Insurers Database -

Hi Pleiades, They make those Tenere's tough!, the forks seem a little twisted in the yokes, I'm going to play around with that today. I want to get the wheel checked out for 'true ness '.. the front tyre really deformed into the rim on impact. As for me I have quite a gash on my knee and it's very painful. ..which is very strange as I didn't even notice until I got home and I can't work out how it happened. ..as for the car drivers details I gave the numberplate to the police and they will write to him ...they weren't impressed with his driving! . Is there anything else I should check on the Tenere. ..? A lot of it is 'seat of the pants' stuff...you know how your own bike should feel and handle. Any advice appreciated. Steve
