Building my second XT660R Dirt Offroad

Hello Everyone

Been some time after I sold my XT660R with WP front end and finally have manage to have a chance to have two XT. Both X but it ends up doing one of them a supermoto and the other a Offroad. My Supermoto is almost finished so the main object is the Offroad one.

Here is a picture of my last XT660R I sold and after that a picture of the oen Supermoto I got now and the main object Offroad one. Will Updated under the building of the Offroad. :hello2:

Hi mate,
Are you using 17" or 18" rear rim for your off road project? If 18" is your choice, what speedo healer/adjuster you use?

Thanks

Landton 14-11-15 22:41

Hello

No this time I will us stock 17" because I found MITAS C-02 in 17" size. Have black 21/18 rims but that have to wait. Did not used healer to my last XT building.

Thanks.
May I ask you one more question, the front wheel looks like WR/YZ sourced, if so what disk you are using?

Landton 18-11-15 21:56

No problem
I got a KTM WP 43mm front fork with KTM wheel with 300mm disc.

Thanks, mate. Keep us updated with the project.

Have some problem, the first owner decided to build his own version of XT and cut the subframe and sold many things. Also change the 2010 harness to a 2006 harness but he must been thinking of something else because I got a 2006 harness BUT a newer CDI who can,t be mounted my older harness FUC*!!!!!!!!!!!

So don,t know if the ignition works with that CDI. I finally got a newer harness so I can test. Not easy to find a package with keys/CDI/ignition ;(

The previous owner most likely wanted to get rid of the lambda (O2) sensor moving back to the old version (I.e. Pre-2007 model). If it works I would suggest you leave it like that. You can better manage the fueling and eventually avoid the famous surging. By the way what is the last digit of the ECU number?

Landton 24-11-15 21:25

Hello

I had been very dizzy this couple of days perhaps finding CDI and immobiliser and keys if nothing work. Found a guy who had a harness for the newer XT with the CDI with the orange sticker. I mounted the harness on my bike and didn,t make any fancy wiring because wanted to test first.

Also check with the guy what will happen if the CDI and immobiliser don,t work between them. I have no O2 sensor but that should not be a problem just to test the bike. First test the fuel pump and display didn,t started. Foundthe ignition fuse and also the backup fuse was blown. After that the fuelpump and display worked but didn,t start. Took out the spark plug and it had spark. Ok what to do next, did,t know how the security lamp should blink when it is ok. Well I smell gas on the spark plug and wondering if the injection does not work. I tested to spray some startgas and:
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
it started.

Some updates.

Btw how is it. My harness is for a O2 sensor XT660 but got no O2 sensor. Got a PC5 and should I go for the O2 eliminator or O2 optimizer?

You definitely need O2 sensor installed and then use Kev's O2 mod. Without O2 sensor, if you just plug in O2 resistor type eliminator your ECU will keep "looking" for O2 sensor signal (although the light will not be on) and when does not find it it will go into emergency mode. In this case the PCV cannot work also.

Looks like things are coming along nicely. It will almost be a shame to get it dirty once it's finished.

:023: Good work!

It is, I think, starting to look even better than the last one you did. The alloy swinger sets it apart.

Landton 03-03-16 20:42

Thanks. Would like to see if a XTZ swing fits but have to wait alittle because got to many projects but got a guy who has a XTZ so I can mesaure it. This one will also be mounted with supermoto wheels but be often driven with dirtwheels. Got a stock rear supermoto wheel and a KTM front wheel! :D

Really like to order a hlins shock but then again projects ;)

A little update. Bought a brakeline from UK a they wrote it should fit XT660X 2004-2010. I wrote them a letter on mail when I order it that there are shorter ones 2004-2006 and with the alu rear arm from 2007 is longer but got a shorter one :
