sw motech centre stand opinions?

I'm after people opinions on the SW Motech centre stand, i have a large touratech bash plate fitted so i'm guessing i'm limited in my choice of centre stands. This is the stand i'm looking at http://www.off-the-road.de/en/Other-...0-R-und-X.html i haven't decided where to purchase it from yet.

How easy is it to fit?

is it any good / stable?

how are the feet on soft ground?

does it stay out the way when off roading?

any other comments?

I fitted the Yamaha one - it was the cheapest!

It fits ok with my Adventure Spec bashplate/Engine guard. Whilst that doesn't help with your specifics (SW-M with Touratech) - I can't see TT making a bashplate that wouldn't work with Yamaha's own stand.

+1 for the genuine article.

I will have a word with my local yammy dealer see what they say. does anyone know how much the official stand goes for in the uk? it is being a bit elusive on my google searches?

I assumed it wouldn'y fit as my TT plate does at a glance seem to cover the mounts so thats why i assumed it wouldn't fit.

Sweller and Sandman are referring to the genuine Yamaha stand for the XTZ, which indeed is very good, but you have an XTR. AFAIK I don't think there is a Yamaha main stand currently available for the R?? This may be why your Googling has been fruitless. As you say - check with your dealer.

The vast majority of XTRs I've seen seem to have been fitted with the SW-Motech option. It will definitely fit with the TT bash plate...

spot on. Exact same bash plate i have so good to see how it fits up.

I've only had a poke around when popping out for a fag (for some reason i always end up at the bike looking at something) and the only flaw within that design i could see would be when it comes to swing arm bearings, is that right?

Soooo does anyone have any comments or user experience with this stand?

Simon

Sorry I can't contribute to the discussion ... been stuck with the same quandary myself ... so rather interested in the comments and outcome :coolsmiley:

During my various trips through the Oz outback I have simply carried an old cut down cricket stump for those times I need to go wheels up :evil6:
