The plane on which the footrests mount (red line) mean they stick out and further from the bike making the riding position much less cramp (standing or sitting). You can also see how much bigger the surface area is. Under the rubber is a decent serrated surface which is plenty grippy enough in wet/mud.

Mine are mounted in the lower position. As you can see from the picture below, it makes a big difference.

PivotPegz are very expensive and in my opinion not worth the money. I got a set 2nd hand and I would have disappointed if I had spent the ��� on a new set. The rocking motion is great if you have stiff boots, not much benefit at all if your boots are flexible.

There are cheap cast pegs available on eBay (there is even a thread on here somewhere covering them) for a few quid are the best buy you'll make. I had a set on my TTR and I would rate them far above the Pivots.

If you are interested in bling, then the pivots look really nice and well made, if you want function look to the cheapo cast units.

Of course, opinions vary.

Well in a half doughy state after a nightshift I visited my local bike shop to upgrade my foot pegs. I took the plunge & ended up with Pivot Pegz MK3

They were a 5 minute swap over. They are well made.
I haven't been for a ride yet, but sitting on the bike, first thought was I should have had a decent nights sleep, looked a bit more on xt660.com before purchasing on impulse. The main concern being the widest 60mm version is they probably use the same spring as the older 50mm wide ones which with the extra spread gives more leverage on the pivot thus making the pivot spring feel a little to loose ( the rocking motion back to front ) It takes very little effort to roll them back & forth so may result in less feed back through the pegs. Also they do require maintenance, Racing every 15hrs, Casual off road every 30hrs, Dual sport / road trail 90hrs. According to the info sheet supplied. They don't tell you that anywhere before you buy. Any way as I say I haven't ridden with them yet but I'm feeling as though for the price it would be nice to be able to lock out the pivot if you require. We'll see how they go.

Well, I got the MK2 for around 6 years, I guess and my pegs didn't see any maintenance ever since. The work well and do there job.

I bought my pivot pegs a few years ago for my xtz750 super tenere and was just lucky that they also fitted its smaller sibling.

My daily commuting are with daytona boots that have a rather thin sole, so even when riding seated i like that i can angle the feet with load on an larger area enstead of jsut using the edge. The are also a bit longer so the support the most of the width of foot enstead of just the inside.

Yes, they are expensive but works really well

PS about the chinese copies. I find it rather funny that advertise them with patented features - but forget to mention that they are patented by pivot pegs. The copy might work just as well as the original but decide for yourself if you wants to support the maker of the original or just the copy ...

I have the SW-Motech pegs.

They have a curved surface (convex the right word?) which in a way does the same as the pivotpegz.

I like them, but havent ridden standing up much. I think the SW-Motechs will do for most of my trips which will be around 60/40 at the most

I finally got to try out the Pivot Pegz today with taking a more scenic route home from work..

And can say now that I'm chuffed with them. Did a bit of Highway , in town, undulating gravel & dirt roads, to find the Pegz quite confidence inspiring both standing & sitting on various terrains. The huge platform connects you well with the bike and your feet feel well planted almost as if your on terra ferma itself.
If I also take into account what I sold my snorkel to Javerlin for then deduct that from the Pegz purchase price then I now see them as great value for money.
Incidentally this wasn't with any flash riding gear either just my trusty old steel toe cap boots. Happy days.
