spraying plastic

What a boring day I'm having at work!!!!!!! :glasses11:

Been thinking about spraying the fairings from shiny black....to matt black :toothy9:

Anybody know whats needed for the process??? Do I need to sand it?? Prime it?? anything else???

CaptMoto 14-03-07 15:30

fine sand it with the finest paper you find, ask SAETTA how he did his fairings cause he did a grand job

Cheers

Sand it with a piece of wire wool thats all ye need, jist tae givew it something to cling to....but a`ll tell ye Matt Black is not a good colour to keep clean, ye see finger marks on it an stuff, its very gard tae keep it good...if yer painting it why not paint it a different colour....whit about Blue, as I have a tail piece, front headlight surround, an two scoops all fur a reasonable price....pm me if yer interested....John

Thanks for the offer mate, but I'm in Istanbul ;) Would have liked to had a spare set of plastics so as the original are kept well, original.

Matt black cant be all that bad though, there are some that came straight out of the factory in a matt finish and no one seems to have complained?

factory matt black and the matt black you spray out of a can is different. anything out of factory will be easier to clean... trust me.

Not if Yamy matt paint is used :dontknow:

Either way we're talking about the front fender, two tank panels and the bit behind the seat, how much graft is it to clean that lot :083:

oops...I forgot to mention that I'm gonna chat to a mate at a custom chopper shop who is an airbrusher, see if I can get a good price. If that fails I have an uncle who is a car sprayer.....if that fails I'll sand it down & leave it as is :p

Stabak thats mint :023:

Exactly what I want, but including the front mudguard too. Did you do it yourself, if so please tell me how and if it looks like its gonna stand the test of time ;) Also, the headlight surround looks as though its only been sanded?

I was at a friends airbrush garage today and we were looking at putting a red or white ace of spade in exactly the same place as your one!!!

cheers!
