Quick update....

All rad guards now cut. In process of being finished with some being sent to powder coaters next week (although my powder coater probably won't start till just after Christmas). Once completed and ready to post I'll pm those who were interested and on my list.

Cheers,

Al

Thanks for the update mate.
Merry Christmas!

Stainless polished radiator guards are finished and ready to post, so I'll pm those that were interested.

Will be dropping off the rest of the guards at the powder coaters next week so they will be done first week in January. When packed and ready to go, I'll pm those interested.

All the best guys.

Hi Al

Know it's the holiday time, so we're all entitled to a bit of R&R, but any idea when you'd be able to make these for an XT660R?

Cheers

Hi BigBlue,

I'm on the case with the XT660R radiator guard and will be looking to get some prototypes made up mid January.

For information, my powder coaters is now open after the holidays so the rest of the radiator guards should be ready by the middle of next week. I'll pm those interested when ready to ship.

Happy New Year all

Al

Very nice. Would like one for my X (when they become available). Good work.
PS from memory the side of the xtx guard is the mounting point for the front of the tank fairing. Would be good to get that spot on as mine always seem to rattle out. :-).

Thankyou and congrats on this backyard shed quality product :-).

Ps could I get a quote for Australia.

Lex162 08-01-14 11:08

Now then Al.

They look much better than the mm ones.

How are you getting on with the XTR ones? If you need a test subject I'd be happy to test one out for you?

Lex

Just picked up the guards from the powder coater this morning so will be packaging them later. I'll pm those interested with payment details tonight - so look out for a pm from me later.

Oldandwornout - I have made a few extra and have a couple of the black tenere ones going spare, so I'll send you a message with details later.

I'm looking into the rad guards for the XTR (all years) and XTX up to 2007 at the moment as I think from 2007 onwards the XTX guard is a different mounting - so will look at that a bit later. I'm gonna model up a few on CAD within the next week and start a new thread to see which designs people prefer.

I made extra rad guards, so if anyone wants one just send me a pm. For sale I have:

Black Tenere logo x 3
Polished Dakar x 1
Polished Standard x 1
Polished Tenere x 1

Also I will have a couple of Dakar and Standard guards in black due in a week or so if anyone is interested in those let me know.

Cheers,

Al

Hi aliwakeskate,

This may sound a silly thing to ask are you still making them? and is it pay buy paypal only? just I've not yet got a paypal account.

Thank you.

I'm still making them for the tenere. But I think you have an XTX? I should be making guards for the XTR and XTX soon.

Hi Al,

Unwrapped my black Tenere guard last night....took a while....best packaging I have seen in a long time! It was like Christmas all over again :icon_santa:

Very nice work and many thanks.

Sandman.

sweller 15-01-14 13:29

I got mine the other day - nice piece of kit.

Slight problem fitting it as the top left hand allen screw is rounded so it looks like I'm going to have to get the drill on it unless someone has any ideas?

Is it the original yamaha screw? If so, might be a bit corroded to the mounting point so spray some wd40 or plus gas (penetrating compound) in the thread if possible then try one of the following.

If you have any torx bits find one that nearly fits or is a little oversize and tap it into the screw head with hammer so it 'bites' into the screw head. Then slowly try to undo it keeping some pressure on it.

Another way is to cut or dremmel a slot into the screw head so you can use a flat head screwdriver to undo it.

There are other things to do, but one of the above usually works for me before resorting to drilling the bolt out.

Cheers Sandman. Yep, I might have overdone the packaging a bit! Well at least they are arriving safely - unlike a parcel I had from royal mail last week which must have been used for their annual keepy up competition :icon_evil:

It is always so much easier and usually cheaper to "invest" a little more time and effort in packaging something properly than "waste" time resolving issues with unhappy customers and damaged goods.

Why dont more suppliers realise that?

Top marks to ya :WellDone_OROQR1:
