Barkbuster handguards + Tucano Urbano R319 muffs
Hi there,
after a bit googling and searching in the forum, seems like Tucano Urbano R319 are a good match for the Ten with the Yamaha handguards. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tucano-Urb...item20db254bdd I was wondering whether anyone is using them with the Barkbuster handguards for our Teneres? Do the muffs fit fine with the mirrors? Are the muffs big enough to go around the "plastic" of the handguard? Cheers |
They fit with my Yam handguards, I know the BarkBusters are a bit deeper.
The only slight problem I have is that the muff tends to touch the Full beam switch... only lightly but this is a bit annoying. The reason why I went for the R319 is so that I could decide where the bar end comes through the material. With the other version, the bar end hole is pre-designated. You'll want to fit bar ends through them, as when taking your hand in and out (especially clutch side) I find the 'muff' material can get a bit caught and move the whole bag around on the bar. I have excess material to go around the mirror and cabling, (easily sorted out with cable ties) so you should be OK in that respect. They do have a stiffening material on the front but I think it should accomodate the BarkBusters. These are popular items though, so even if you buy a set and find it doesn't fit, I'm sure you'll get a good re-sale value on eBay. |
I have Barkbusters and Tucano Urbano 323R muffs on my Ten and they work fine. Plenty of room for getting at switches, warm and dry.
I did however cut out the rubber plug on the inside that is supposed to go onto the bar end weight. They do not need any support there when used with the Barkbusters. On my second set now, the others delaminated after about four years of abuse! |

redbikejohn has the R319 version, same as me ( i know because he showed me his muff :pjrflash_Q2CCBE:)
The front part of all Tucano Mitts are made of a stiffening material which can be bent into shape around your guards. The pic that Steve posted shows it quite flat, but it can be moulded. ~On those R323 versions, you can see the holes for the bar end screws. I just made mine by punching a hole through using a punch and eyelet. Clearly, both R319 or R323 are winners. |

Yes I think not having them fixed is better (for me) as they move forward when you turn the bars full lock and therefore don't restrict your movement. If they were fixed they could not move.
Heated grips. Most are not very good. Its the controllers that fail due to not being properly watertight. I have heard the symtech (spelling?) are the best. They going on the bars and grips are put over the top. |
