Mmmmm so er make a noise and stop the sale unless he has a correct frame and engine number and V5 of course....

bluecoup 08-10-13 19:37

A 93 xt660 frame ?
Thought they started in 04

afk40 08-10-13 19:44

yes thats what got me baffled.. how come a guy can put this for sale as a 93 bike when at least it would be a 04...as its plain to see theres something really wrong here... yes he might have a numbers corresponding to the v5.. but where did he get that from. unless he has a donor frame an has tepped the numbers on the frame...but then it would be an age related plate or a Q reg... someting jist not right here... a dont know who you would conact concernin this.. . as its too good to be true..

and why Now is talkin about BREAKING it...???? unless someting was wrong.

It will be a 2004+ frame. You could verify by asking him for the frame number, sure somewhere on here there's a post linking numbers to years.

He's a dumbass and thinks because it's got a K-prefix vanity plate on it it must have been reframed with a 92/93 reg frame.

With that in mind, it's potentially a very good deal if you were after an XTX, assuming there was nothing nasty on an HPI check and the V5 did line up with the engine and frame numbers currently in the bike.

"Dumbass" I do not know but there was an XT 660 in the 1990s as well. Google it...
However, the picture is not showing the old model.

I know that.

If you want to attempt to get the current water-cooled motor into the space occupied by the old 5-valve air-cooled motor, then make it look like a current model bike for the pictures, then please be my guest.

I think my explanation is more likely. :D

I'd buy into UT's "dumbass" theory. By far the most likely scenario, especially if you look at where the seller lives! ;)

Alexander 10-10-13 20:33

Hehe...
Well I said it is not the old model in the pic... :tongue5:

Carry on! :rolltfl:

Ok - plenty of dumbasses in UK? :110:
