Wow , balls of steel !! & with no fairing !!

I got my Tenere to 169km/h on the flat calm day, stock gearing, stock foam filter, Akra pipes & Kev Fuel mods. Great on the straights , corners not so.

top speed XT

Hi I opened my xtz up for the first time this week end just out of curiosity. Sat bolt upright on the level it went round to an indicated 100 mph with no bother and i was not on full throttle!! well impressed. I know its probly low ninetys but still it hauled my ass 115 kg with no bother.:angel3: oh its totally stock no performance mods yet. I dont think my speedo is as optimistic as some I drive this stretch of road regularly in my car and the average traffic speed is just under eighty. I cruise at 5000rpm on the bike and the speedo reads 82 ish. When i opened the bikeup I even left the fast pack BMWs who where doing around ninety for dead. I think my tom tom under reads when I have used it in the car its probly not recalculating fast enough.

Had 109mph (indicated) out of my modded Z, (private land, 100% legal)

DNA air filter and snorkel removed.
Kev mods. Stock gearing.
Tall screen, new army specials.
130kg rider. Tucked in trying to snap throttle.cable.

Garmin says 98 mph.

Tires where howling like a banshee :wicked01:

well tires can matter. knobbies vs street tires make a difference in power delivery i think

and elevation, at 1500m i think there's about a 10% power loss

109mph on Army Specials! I tell you, that takes balls of steel! :notworthy:

I should think most of their knobbly bits are still stuck to the road! ;)

I don't know and I honestly don't care what the topspeed is! This kinda bike isn't about speed, but about havin' fun getting there(where ever that may be!), is it onroad or offroad...... But to each its own, gladly we don't like all the same things!

A month or two ago I reached 187km/h (around 116mph) on the German Autobahn, laying on the tank as flat as possible. Was on the way back home from a dirt bike training. Real speed may have been slower, but the Garmin was switched of. After a short time it started to feel a bit strange, as the rear tire decided to throw away some knobbies... :eusa_whistle:

That's the result:

So I agree: top speed is not important and can become expensive

Funny you should say that. This was the result of that particular run.

Every single centre knobble had either fell off or was in the process of leaving.
I replaced it with this maxxis whuch was without doubt the hardest sh*test tyre ive ever used.
It did last 11,000 miles.though.

But like i said my speedo is like a politician. Its a Lying b*stard haha

Gps said 98. Guess that speed.rating on the tyre is there for a reason lol.

Its really rather amazing how much you lose the urge to find the top speed when large sections of your tire make a bid for :brave: at almost 100mph. As you can probably guess ive neglected too rerun that particular experiment.
