As a follow on to the air box thing and which bike to go on , can i ask what scale of difficulty you're planning ?

Reason i ask is the other times i've been i push to the extream (8.5 out of 10) with the DR and know full well i couldn't throw the Black Pig around the same ..............but knowing me i'll have a go

Do we have a list of bikes yet and peoples skills ?

Hi Phil..

There are people who've never ridden off road before going in a mix of big trailies (GS's) and down to the XTZ and some who have off roaded...a mixed bunch as it were.

I'm looking at showing people Marco who've never been (as well as those that have) and if they need any tuition then that can be given. When you read the adv ride report mentioned earlier you'll see the type of trails. Having said that if anyone gets onto trails that parallel others that are more difficult then by all means give them a go. It's your holiday

When I rode for Redtread we had the perfect moto..CRF 450's that were rode fast all the time to make our evening deadline hotel.


The XTZ would be comfortable when it comes to the auto route cruising and it'll certainly do all the trails that are thrown at it,if a bit slower than the DR.

There'll be camping stuff on all motos too as we plan to allow for a few nights wild camping so that should have an impact on what you decide?

When it's safe to do so,or not even.I'll be scooting along rightly as the trails allow...so will Phil....
The others..I don't know their skill levels until we get there...

Starting to look forward to it ....I'll be contacting an hotel tomorrow to reserve rooms as cheap as possible in Spain. After that it'll be winging it!!

Sorted mate , i do want to try the Black Pig down there and don't mind leading a group of newbies as i've had a day or 2 off roading :laughing9:

I'm all for everyone having a good and safe time , i just need someone sensible to look after me.

Hi all,rog of plymouth here just a heads up to anyone using the plymuff to Santander ferry. I think the ferry departs 3.45pm on the Sunday, so I guess most people will come down on the day, but if there are a few from up north then you are very welcome to stay on the sat night. Same as on the day if people want to meet at mine for a mug of tea and a bacon and egg sarnie, as there is sod all at the ferry Port.

Yip..all those with experience can certainly assist others who've never ridden off road before.

It'd be great to see you next week for sure...I'm committed Sat evening from about 1800hrs so through the day would be quite OK.

Thanks for your update. I'll be pinging stuff later on i.e. next few days.

Due to the number of riders I'm thinking of a less hectic route to ride down to Algeciras from Santander.....one that I've ridden before.

All that to say,I'll contact the hotel I have in mind tomorrow and see if they can provide cheapskate lodgings to include sharing rooms.

Frank is now not going in the Land Rover as of today...he's committed to running his shop on the dates at present.

Starting to look forward to the ride out....and all of the stupidity that ensues thereafter lol

We'll either have to pay top dollar for the red when we get there...or find a place to stash it somehow on our motos!!..It's all a worry!!

I'm sure we can find a solution.....somehow.....somewhere...with some help from some sort of a support group...yes...that's it...there has to be a moto wine stashing support group...somewhere......
