just thinking of the phrase "ten on a diet".....how much weight do you think you could shave off?

That Ten that did the Hero's and Legends rally (Jenny?) was pretty dam tricked out...wonder how much lighter that was?

I don't now the largest chunk is the silencer with the tail light assemble not far behind. I had the suspension on the soft pre load now it feels harder.:smilies0966: Wheels are heavy can't aford to replace those, working on rear light assemble.:icon_study:

when you say silencer...you mean going to a single can?

is the tail asembley really that heavy????

you can get universal tail tidy's here

http://shop4bikers.co.uk/shop4bikers...djustable.html

you can then also fit a combo light - brake light, tail light, plate light

http://shop4bikers.co.uk/shop4bikers...ate-light.html

Think your right about wheels / hubs. you can get Excel rims quite easily, ive looked for Talon hubs but cant find a price for the Ten......at a guess, i would say "a lot" :)
At the NEC bike show there was a wheel stand that did lovely off road wheels, made Talon / excel wheels look 2nd class. Had no price on them though....and we all now what that means.

Going single disk on the front would save a bit too. im convinced there must be wheels / hubs that are better and lighter from other bikes that would drop into the Tenere???

Yes Phil-Ten running single can 2" bore.Talon YEOVIL Somerset. just up the road from me,nice wheels.:love2:And yes the tail light assembly is over engineered and heavy.I like re-cycling the parts i have.going to try and fit the light bulb assemble into the KTM mudguard and you don't need a number plate light for MOT.:thumbsup[1]:

Yes - weighs a ton - I've got mine in the garage loft so I'll dig it and the standard zorst out at some point and weigh them..

tripletom 19-01-13 13:47

Standard silencer weighs 10.5kg form memory

Pleiades 19-01-13 14:36

Just weighed the standard silencer and it came in at 7.8Kg - but it has never been used, so there's no carbon/soot build up! I'd guess with a bit of muck and soot a used silencer would be maybe 8Kg?

Mort 19-01-13 15:26

Hi just checked 7.9 kg have to check the other plastics.:what:
