Thanks for info on squealing!! It seems to be fairly intermittent - road salt perhaps? The pads are pretty thin, but I don't think metal/metal yet....

For the sake of 15-20 and for your own safety, you may as well change them and clean everything up while your at it. Don't wait for the backing plates to meet the disc!

Hi

Just wondering what pads you guys are using and do you find the Ten eats rear pads? (yes i know it depends on your riding style...i do a lot of skids :) )

im UK based, will be ording off the net. need rear pads first, any good websites?

Tar very muchly.

Hi Phil,
i have had both EBC (the red one) and Yamaha pads. The Yamaha pads break the best and they are thicker compared to the EBC ones. The Yamaha pads have full breaking from the start. The EBC pads I had to break in. It lasted quit a while until they had their full breaking potential. And, at least in Germany, the OE pads are not much more expensive than third party pads. So I go with the OE pads.

Regards

EBC 'R' Pads (they are red) if you go anywhere near dirt. Last much longer and don't fade with heavy use.

I had some red EBC pads. A day of dirt did this to them...

... to be fair, that day was the first day of the Ryedale, and *everyone* changed rear pads on the Saturday night. There's something in that Yorkshire dirt.

Strangely, I'm pretty sure the set I replaced them with are still in the bike. They were EBC as well, but gold rather than red. I don't know what that means. I think I've ordered about half a dozen pairs of rear pads from Wemoto, and they've all been different because I can never remember what I had the last time.

I run them way beyond the wear markers, although usually not quite as far as the ones in the photo. As far as I'm aware, no kittens have died as a result. Just need to check them a bit more often as they get low.

Those pads look absolutely knackered!!!!! Mine aren't anywhere near that, so I'll put up with the squealing a little longer....

Are they MX-S181 by chance ? These are gold in colour and not listed for the Tenere. They are though, listed for the TT600RE as a MotoX pad.

The TT600RE is the same caliper as the Tenere and the pads are the same part numbers - I can't see why they would list for one bike, but not for another....

I've often though about those pads, but thought they may be a little hard, needing warming up (like competition pads) - I take it they are OK for normal use then ??

Incidentally, the same pads fit many KTM's too.
