It seams that HG are in serious trouble - lets hope there is a mega-rich biker out there who can recover the situation

I like their stuff will be a shame to see them go.
But I think it is a sign of the times, when did you last buy from them?:Gangsta2_9BI664:

I see a bit drop in the number of bikes and bikers no the road and in the competition side too. For a lot of folk it is hobby spending and is cut back when time get tough.:026:

Shame, HG have been good to me over the years, but their demise is no real surprise I'm sad to say.

I've bought gloves, jacket and trousers in the last few months with amazingly good discounts, which in itself tells a story. Would have bought a helmet too, but the stock in the Norwich store has been very threadbare since January - another indication that the end was nigh.

I think with an injection of capital and new management (who are a bit more savvy in these hard times) there is definitely potential for HG to rise from the ashes...

This looks bad: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...dministration/

A real shame - I hope this doesn't mean a bigger demise bringing others down too.....

Grim

Ive never really found any other manufacturer that stocks as much gear and also that fits my out of shape body and ive bought some amount of stuff from them. Also just bought a set of leather trousers from them in the discount to have the crotch rip, took them back yesterday and the guy was like hmmmmm yes its a faulty product but couldnt just give me a new pair and said they may have to go back to get repaired which i said hmmmm ive only had them 3 weeks, its taken me a week to get them back to you so i think you should really exchange them either that or this is a common fault area which is always going to happen with me!!! Just said he could only send then off for head office to suggest a fix:poke1: Hope i still get them back

Yep, a sign of the times, in recession a hobby always takes the hit. Motorbiking is suffering big time when did you last see a young motorcyclist? Bought ton`s of stuff over the years from H G and at present am awaiting a refund, probably seen the last of that.

As already mentioned, the signs were on the wall for a long time. I made it a habbit to pop into the Plymouth store everytime i was there. Hardly ever was there there anybody else in the shop. And over time the stock became so low that the more common sizes (me, i think) were not available anymore. Staff couldn't even tell you when new stock was expected. Now we know why.
I also found HG generally a bit expensive and used to take advantage when offers were available. I suppose people like me didn't help their cause. I even ordered recently some boots from their german site, saving over a hundred quit. It does not help if the parent company undermines their own subsideries either.
Over the years i have spend a lot of money at HG and never regretted a single buy. Good stuff.
Shame, first GW now HG gone. Where do i go now when the wife is shopping in Plymouth?
I remember going all the way to the Gericke shop in Cologne when it opened back in the early 80's i think. Was a sensation back then because suddenly biking gear was not just black anymore. It had become fashionable and acceptable. Gericke was always part of my biking life.

Crying shame

Rob

Just bought a new visor from these guys, as none available in UK: http://www.louis.eu/
Really impressed with service/delivery! Only gripe is the catalogue they sent is in German. Wish I'd studied better at school, as it looks great....
So if these guys can do it, maybe there's hope for the others
