just did a quick 3300 mile ride half way across the states

my bike was in Arizona with Al Jesse of www.jesseluggage.com, he borrowed it so he could make welding jigs off my frame. so they are now available for the XT660Z, if you look at my other RTW blog/ photos on here http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=18174 i have more luggage with me on this 'short ride' in the panniers than on my 38,000...even my tent is in the panniers!!! the link to the luggage is here... http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=19179

anyhow i'll add photos of the ride from Arizona to Louisiana, via Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Any questions on specific locations fire away...

i am not going to write too much on this one, i'll just say i started the ride from the overland expo, one of the largest collections of overlanders, bikes and 4x4 in the states in one place at one time

here's the photos...:thumbsup[1]:

virtually everyone that saw it (that knew what it was) wanted to buy it...i could have sold this bike 500 times over since it came across the border

mash101 12-06-12 12:12

I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am of that trip - my dream!!!!!
Great pictures!

RafaelMartins 12-06-12 13:48

This is the first trip after the mods you did in the bike?

Congratulations, keep it coming more pics!

Fiddich 12-06-12 15:33

After all those miles and stunning landscapes have you hit some sort of overload and just take the views for granted? Surely there is only so much you can handle before becoming a jibbering wreck. I think you will soon need some 'city therapy'.:toothy12:

no actually quite the opposite, i found roads i had never been on before and it has motivated me to put my RTW on hold and start my business idea - www.5000mileadventures.com -

i lived in central London until i was 21, and then 12 years in Las Vegas, i look at maps to avoid cities there's nothing there for me anymore

What was the foot pring of?:googly[1]:

a foot :rofl[1]:

no really a foot, looked child size, not an animal, it was on a rock in the middle of nowhere...very strange

rtwpaul 12-06-12 16:23

...and a one footed kid or maybe mini yeti and there was only this one print on the rock...weird

Just had a good look - what a top idea!!! Financially this is probably a non-starter for the immediate future, but has made me even more envious!!!
I used to have a WR250X - I believe the R version is identical apart from rim/tyre sizes & front brake. A really well made machine, made in Japan & expensive; multi-adjustable suspension, very light & plenty of power. SUPREMELY reliable!!!

i think its the ideal bike once a 5 gallon tank is added so it can be taken into more remote areas...each bike will be set up correctly so it should be right for all riders, all i will need to do it dog bones to adjust ride height to fit individuals

leaving July 25th to do a full on scouting ride and once i get back i will write up a full report and post it here
