.... who was riding a bog-standard bike and who absolutely whipped me. To the tune of over a minute on a 7.5 mile special :icon_cry:.

Must.Ride.Faster

Was fun though. Good to see you down there - next time make sure you're racing rather than watching!

Well done UT sounds like you had fun!

Seeing your post....perhaps I should get my ten in for a rally sooner rather than later! :)

I'm in it at 5:45, 16:25, 18:37, and 21:02 (plus the occasional glimpse of me sat at the start between 3:21 and 3:45)

Marvel at how I'm going so slowly I could be out for a gentle trail-ride :D

Quite looking forward to doing this kind of thing! UT and stoic, where do you guys suggest I should start? Having never done any form of rally before I need some form of amature one to get me started!

Cheers

Well, last Sunday would have been an ideal start - short course and really easy format. Bit late though :D. I don't know if they're thinking of running another RallySprint later in the year, or leaving it till next year. There's several more rallies in a more traditional format (fewer, longer laps with multiple specials per lap) over the rest of the year, the next one being the Kielder at the start of June.

Details on the UK rallies are on www.bigbikerallychallenge.co.uk. There's also the forum at www.rallymoto.co.uk.

The BBRC organisers also run training weekends at Sweet Lamb (near Llanidloes in mid-Wales, same venue as the race on Sunday) throughout the year. I went to one last September, and I'm going again in a few weeks time - April 28/29, think there's still spaces left. It's not a cheap weekend but it will massively improve your riding.

They're all amateur rallies ;). You'll have people like Patsy Quick and Craig Bounds at the sharp end, but there's plenty more like me wobbling around at the back.
