SEQ meet & greet

Any interest in a south east Qld get togehter to meet and greet, oh and show our bikes.
Any ideas in a venue, somerset dam maybe.
Happy to hear any suggestions or interest, cheers.

Shane

Kev 09-02-12 11:14

I have tried many times over the years to organize get togethers in SA Queensland, seems everyone is just to busy these days.

I don't ride an XT any more but would love to meet & greet with like minded riders.

johnno 09-02-12 11:27

Some real good information about KTM Kev http://www.xt660.com/images/icons/icon7.gif http://www.xt660.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Kev 09-02-12 13:11

I don't think I have owned a bike that has not been modified in some way, the KTM is just my latest toy to play with.

I have done 13000kms (8K miles) in 7 months of fun riding, the SMR is unreal it has so much grunt, mine weighs the same as an XTX with 3 times the HP & double the torque.

Easy E 10-02-12 11:00

I wouldn't mind a ride to somerset dam. sounds good.

boneman 10-02-12 11:02

Good on you Shane

Hi mate, sounds like a great idea. I reckon an overnighter (at a pub) after a ride would be a great icebreaker... As long as you can give a few weeks notice count me in.

supamanaint 11-02-12 04:32

Thanks fellas,

I was thinking of about three weeks time which should give enough time to plan ahead and pencil it in if it suits.

Kev 11-02-12 11:00

That is the weekend of the 3rd, I am free depending on the rain.

You can change the date to suit everyone I will fall in on any date.

Over nighter?
Kev Brisbane

Day meet up?
Kev

supamanaint 14-02-12 05:26

Yep the weekend 3rd-4th March but am open to any date that suits other as well.
Am not to worried about numbers 2,3,4 but the more the merrier.
Cheers.

Shane

Brad2011 17-02-12 07:33

SEQ Ride

Howdy Shane,

Whats the latest with the ride next weekend? I'm free with an RDO Saturday.

Is Somerset still the go? Overnight? Knobbies?

Let's know so we can organise something. Hopefully it won't rain!!

Boneman

mickd 26-02-12 10:07

hi all
so whats the meeting place, time etc

supamanaint 26-02-12 13:33

Ok all,

Whats say we make it 10:30 ish (between 10 and 11) across from the shop at Somerset on Sat the 3rd if that works for others.

Jason no need for kobbies yet, can go for a bit of a ride and make it an overnighter if you want.

Just a meet and greet to say hi and to maybe get some more things going in the future.

Let me know what you think and I may fit in a scouting run this week.

Cheers,

Shane.

supamanaint 26-02-12 13:45

Boneman and I should be a the Esk bakery about 9:30 ish as well.

mickd 26-02-12 22:32

Kev 27-02-12 10:07

Mickd will pm you today sometime re mid week look around, prob wed or thurs.

Kev, now you're testing my computer skill as i've not long graduated form smashing rocks together. Will try and post up a map soon.

Coming into Somerset from the Esk, Fernvale side you will see the camping ground to the right and futher up on the left is the shop/servo/cafe.
The camping ground extends right up to opposite the shop as well and there is a tin hall there as well I think.

I will make sure I park somewhere visible as a all black XT660R does not exactly stand out like a third nut on a greyhound, cheers.

Shane.

mickd 27-02-12 23:33

Will be there at 10am, looks like no rain, my KTM is not water proof it does not like the rain, just me I always like a clean bike.

Is this the servo you are talking about?

Thanks Kev,

Yep thats the one, servo/shop.

I have heard that about KTM's and rain haha, gee don't tell me i'll have to back to riding with my BMW mates if it rains.

We shall see you there Kev

Kev 28-02-12 12:12

I can't believe out of the hundreds of XT660.com forum members who live in SE Queensland that there will on be a hand full of us on Saturday, I know I am looking forward to it.

Out the 5 years or so I have been on this forum I have only ever met a few like minded 660 riders in person.

I'm looking foward to it to Kev, it's great to meet like minded riders/people.

It is a bit hard to believe that there have been no get togethers before, gee if it were a BMW forum you would have trouble keeping up with the togethers.

Anyway this may be a good starting point for future rides and so on.

I'm off for a little ride down there in the morning to look around (and just for a little ride).

Look forward to meeting up on Sat' cheers.

Shane.

boneman 29-02-12 10:57

Just the start, hopefully...

Kev & Shane, start with a few guys this time, couple of ring-ins (& a police escort) have a great time, post some cool photos & videos to get the others in the forum off their arses. I'm pretty new to the forum, surprised this is the first ride that's been organised. Good upon you Shane for getting us organised.
Boneman

Kev 29-02-12 11:09

I have tried a few times over the years to get an SEQ XT660 ride out, I only ever got one other XT660 for the 2 ride outs so I gave up.

Well Kev that is a bit sad but with a little luck and a couple ring in's we should be able to get some going.

I understand that people are time poor these days but gee to get out on the bike and away does you a world o good.

Kev 01-03-12 10:46

Kev2 the man who machines up all my XT660 mods including the big bore conversions is tagging along if you guys don't mind another none XT660X/R/Z rider, he has been a member here for the past 4 years & just loves bikes.

supamanaint 02-03-12 07:18

So who's coming tomorrow ?

There is Kev and Kev2, Boneman and me plus two others to join us.

Who else is keen to meet up at Somerset

Kev 02-03-12 08:41

Bike all fueled up for the ride tomorrow.:smilies0347:

mickd 02-03-12 09:10

Woottonboy 02-03-12 09:52

considering

Yamaha sold 203 XT660(Z and R) in 2011 in Australia (223 in 2010) -9.0%
and 129 XT660X's (158 in 2010) -18.4%

You don't seem to see many. Maybe a get together in Newcastle could be organised?

Gee tough part of the world your in there, I grew up in the Hunter Valley so yeah i'd be up for a get together down there.

Easy E 03-03-12 04:20

I hope you guys are have a nice outing to Somerset. bit wet today.

Would have loved to join, but just returned from the Philippines, so gotta spent some time with the family first.

I hope this will be repeated and that I can join then.

Post some pics when you get back please.

boneman 03-03-12 08:30

SEQ Ride

Just got back, yes, very wet at the end.

The majority of the ride was dry, 2 XTRs, BMW 800GS, ubiquitous DR650! MickD was there with his pristine XTZ, Kev KTM990SMR & Kev2 Kawasaki Z1000.

Would be good to see a few more XTs represented, maybe next time.

Good on you Shane (Supamanaint) for organising the day.

Boneman

Kev 03-03-12 10:04

Good to catch up with you guys today, we got soaked on our way back to Brisbane & the cops were everywhere on our way back.

digahole78 03-03-12 12:05

******. You log into XT660 after a few weeks and the first post you see is from a ride in your backyard. Spent better half of today punching through the rain up and over tamborine with a mate. Next time lads.
