Ive a set of the KTM guards on my Triumph Tiger and they do a good job of portecting your hands from the wind, just i wouldnt want to rely on them in a spill for hand protection.

I like the idea of the 40 KTM hand guards - my main reasons for wanting to install are:

1. As per my previous bike (WR250X with Zeta XC hand guards), very useful in filtering through traffic for avoiding cager's mirrors, especially when on mobile phone......

2. Wind protection in winter

So: are the KTM items any good for keeping your hands warm????

What - you filter and use the phone....................:rotf[1]:

Yeah yeah yeah............ Anyway, don't get me started on mobile phone use whilst driving, 'yummy mummy' school run, in-car arguing, etc.
I think I need a better horn as well as hand guards - any recommendations??

In the interest of anyone considering purchasing hand guards on the cheap, do not buy these as they do not fit. Stupidly I thought that the bars were 18mm, however they have an inside diameter of 14mm and are of no use whatsoever :sad10:

On 2nd thoughts, I might be able to make them fit if anyone has a 14mm insert and screw left over from fitting guards to the heavier bars???

Obviously I'm willing to pay for it, but I can only find full fitting kits on the net which tbh cost half the price that the guards cost.

Anyone???

Acerbis rally 2's, not the cheapest but v nice indeed as far as good solid handguards go. Also check out 'ego barkbusters'...

If you look at the 1st pic, the problem is the inside of the bars. You can see a smaller diameter within which stops the fitment in the 2nd pic from going in properly.

The 3rd pic is just to show the difference in length.

Fitments aside, even holding the handguards in position, they would not fit the XT.

that seems like a bit of an excessive fitting for what it is...

They look the exact same shape as the ones I just tried though?

Grim Reaper 11-01-12 22:48

Just done a quick search on them.
