It did not on my bike, even with the throttle cam reduced the throttle does not reach the throttle stop at 100% throttle. If you find on your bike that you do not have full throttle at the throttle body when the twist grip is at full throttle cut a bit off the throttle stop on the twist grip.

I did the mod yesterday on my bike. Just 1mm and it works great. The trottle is a lot smoother...

Oi Kev, this mod sounds great BUT as my technical skills are er limited, would you consider selling me the bit ready modified with the groove cut??? And I could then resend you mine to modify and resell to the next guy. What do you think????

The problem is I have not owned a XT660 since 2011 & don't have a spare twist grip to modify, may be someone in your area could offer you a hand with the mod.

Simon - A genuine Yamaha throttle grip assembly is less than 15.

At that price, just buy one and have ago at doing the mod yourself. What's the worst that could happen? At least if you buy one to work on you still be able to ride your bike if you bu99er it up, and if it works - well you could mod the other one too and sell it on and get your money back! :D

Hi,

Did this mod yesterday and I can say throttle reposnse is really smooth now.
Its really easy to do. This should be on Yamaha list how to make their bike better !

Thanks to all who invented this mod !

The mod works well on any bike with throttle cables.

Apologies for the bump of this topic but am I reading it correctly that all you are really doing is cutting a groove in the tube where the cable meet the cam ??

In a nutshell, that's it! Simple mod, but very effective.
