Great, thanks. Thinking I'll give this one a go. Maybe it will smooth out the jerk when going from closed to open throttle
|
Will do this when I get my bike back from the shop.
As much fun as it is to power slide in the dirt, it can make it a bit more than interesting in the tight stuff as it is. Very simple cam action when you think about it, great Kev. |
Hi Kev,
so if i get it right you used a 4mm drill to do the 2mm groove, or? Why do i need to measure it first (1mm measurement picture)? |
I used a 2mm drill bit & lowered the cable height by 1 mm.
From the feed back I have got on this mod some riders are happier with lowering the cable height by up to 2mm. If you find your throttle still twitchy at 1mm go down a further 1mm to max 2mm depth. |
I braved it!
Just tackled this mod, I was a bit skeptical as im not the most technically minded lad! but it was easy, even for me. It took no more than half an hour start to finish. I didn't measure the depth I drilled but would guess it was about 1.5mm. Only took the bike down the drive as its waiting on MOT but it seemed better already, Will post back later when I've crept through some traffic and tested it properly!
CHEERS KEV! |
Did you drill on both sides?
OT: Btw how come I,am not a XT supporter, I have paid for it? |
no, from what I saw on kevs pictures he just did the one side. However I may be wrong. I will wait on his reply to confirm this!
|
Kev proves once more that he is a genius, I must do this one next weekend....
|
You only drill the pull cable side, the reduced throttle cam raduis allows for better throttle control.:072:
|
this mod affects the full open throttle and the max speed of the bike, because it reduces the travel of throttle rotation?
