Buying Progressive front springs - Wilbers vs HYPERPRO ?
ok so I'm thinking about changing my front springs and all i could wind is that there is Hyperpro and Wilbers around same look and same price?
My question would be is there a better option for my XTXor its all the same? Also it would be nice if someone could recomend cheepest online pleace or a xt660.com discount partner to order from:) if any :) btw is there a difference between bike generation? mine is 2009... thanks guys |
I can only compare between the hyperpro in my sv and the wilbers in the ten. But I'd say they are comparable and you can just decide based on which you can get cheapest.
|
Both around the same spec.
Fit a set of progessive front springs with 15W fork oil, lower the front forks by 25mm, fit a set of rear XTR links which lower the XTX by 25mm. When you have this complete set up your XTX will handle like it is on rails. Ask anyone who has ridden my bike. :sbike: |
Uh is it posible to leave stock rare spring for now? How would that feal? Altought I read somewere its a husle to change it?
|
I changed my front springs to hyperpro last year also changed the fork oil to 15w and this made the bike better to ride on bumpy roads as it felt a lot smother
Fitted the hyperpro rear spring a few months ago was a bit of a fiddly job but not to hard (with the right tools) and this also improved the way the bike rode |

If you ask on the forum some people have changed their XTR links to raise their bike with other links and might sell you their old XTR links for cheap (20-30). |
Leo vince ???
What do you reckon to these zorsts (see above) they seem to be quite cheap seen them on a few crossers but what about on the xtx? never can tell off youtube :( just thinking of buying some.
Read a bit about fuelling probs on these bikes before i bought it & seems to randomly cut out from what little time i have had it started so was thinking filters exhaust & remap would sort it out? |

I know you are new here, but please EXPLORE the forum a bit more before posting in the wrong thread. We've got almost everything covered, you just need to find the correct place. |

|

HYPERPRO front springs ordered!
maxwell123455 thanks for clearing that one for me, i will post new tred with that inquire :) |
Just ordered stock links from 2006 XTR that i found in local motorcycle ads for 20 euro, not bad i think... Do i need anything more except this 2 metal bone :) ?
|
Everything arrived and its mounted on bike :) its raining like a F**K here so i cant test it...
just a quick question, there was more then 600ml of oil originally in each fork tube, but i received only 1L of oil with springs ? is that enough? Another thing KEV, i wanted to lower front forks for 25mm as you told me but they wer hitting handle bar :/ so i just put them on 20mm should that do the deal also and thanks for advice on XTR dog bones, i can finally put my both legs on ground now. |
20mm will be fine.
As mentioned I have a set of front progressive front springs with XTR rear links for sale at this moment for a XTX. http://shop.ebay.com.au/7416kevinh/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562 |
DAMN IT! if i sow that earlier I could save some money >:(
|
today i tested new springs on track! i must say that feeling is amazing... i think you sed once its like riding on rails ;) ! I can now confirm that its more then correct! Feeling is wonderful :)
Only down size is that now when i lowered bike with XTR links I'm grinding footrest holders, footrests and foot break when im driving corners >:( ill have to return to stock height http://dl.dropbox.com/u/123959/IMG_1263.JPG |
Shift your body wait lower & lift the bike in the corners & you won't touch the pegs.

hullo.. sorry if this is a thread hijack, but are all progressive springs (hyperpro, wilburs, hagon, yacugar) all the same 'rate' (wrong terminology I'm sure..)?
i'm used to buying linear rate springs which each have a definite spring rate :S do prog springs have to be specially ordered for your weight or are they pretty much all the same? thanks in advance :) |
@kev thanks ill try it next time
just to illustrate my problem :) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/123959/MG_8174.jpg @sino when i was ordering hyperpros there weren't any weight options just XTR or XTX model |
thanks ishoe.. nice pic ;)
if they're all the same "rate", I guess I might order some Hagon progressive springs along with some other stuff from wemoto. at 80 pounds ($125ish), its a bit cheaper than hyperpro ($169). havent heard any negative comments about Hagon.. anyone here have any experience? |
I'm looking at upgrading front forks to progressive springs and saw this ad on ebay
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Progressi...item230c0165ad has anybody bought from this company or used these springs before? |
I've just bought pair of progressive front springs made by wilbers have yet to fit them...have been told they are better for heavy braking and will stop excessive travel will let you know the out come

I just had a thought, are progressive springs suitable for offroad riding?
|
Hey Skt,
Check these guys out on evil bay, (www_zietech_de) they have the Wirth springs and are great to deal with. Now some people like progressive springs offroad and some prefer a heavy normal wind. Progressive springs work fine in the XT forks which have no other adjustments. I like progressive springs from Wirth, they are a heavy wire unlike alot of others. |

Hey mate do these springs make the front end higher? |
Update on these progressive springs...I tried them this weekend at test track and so much better under heavy braking, ride height is a little better but don't have long front spring travel as super motards...so overall yes get them

Short answer, yes :laughing9:. The standard springs are way soft so most aftermarket springs will/should lift the front end a little. But different springs/brands will/should vary in the ride height area a little. The springs I fitted have made a big difference but one has to rember that most springs will take about 1000km to settle in. The best mod you can make to a bike is good suspension. |
