Ahaa, Now I see.

Now as much as I like the idea of the of the mod because its nice and cheap and you get to customise it yourself, and I'm plenty confident to do it (I'm an apprentice mechanical engineer) I take it that cutting and soldering wires would void the warranty?

I only ask because I only picked the bike up sunday and have only done a few hundred miles on it and with a 2 year warranty, I'd just prefer to do such bolt ons like the stage 1/2 filters and a set of nice cans because they're reversable.

You will have no problem with cutting one wire with your bike under warranty, this mod is very safe with hundreds of riders doing it with no warranty concerns.

Mods affecting warranty.
Just to clear up things, any addition to the wiring or any mod to a motorcycle will void warranty of the replacement part, if the mod can be proven to be the fault or cause of the failure of the component.

Cheers for clearing that up Kev!

So rather than soldering the wires, would I be able to get away with using some spade connectors and a little electrical insulation grease just to seal it so that if I did wish to undo it in the future I can?

I set the CO1 to 20 yesterday, from 14, stopped a lot of the low speed surging. Pulled the snorkle out last night and took it for a ride again. Surging was back so I upped the CO1 to 24, rides nicely now with very little surging.

I'm very tempted to buy the Stage 2 filter and the kev mod at some point. Seeing as i'll soon be coming up for the 600 mile service in 2 weeks I'll leave the stage 1 for the mean time.

You can use connectors as long as you solder the wires to the connectors.

You guys have sure bad corrosion problems over there, that any resistance in the connectors or wiring will cause the bike to misbehave, that's why I solder my mod to the wiring loom & have never had a problem with the mod in the UK.

Yeah, thats why I mention about putting a little grease in the connectors themselves to stop the damp getting in. Will have to see, got to get it first!

Kev, I just read something in another thread there that the 2009 XT's cant use the Kevmod because they've got the O2 sensor that adjusts fuelling anyway. So that means that theres a couple of horses that I'm going to miss out on then or is there something else that I can do?

You can use the kev fuel mod on any XT we just had problems with a few 07 models, I have sold a few Kev fuel mods for 08 & 09 models with no problems.
