Have a good weekend all. Look forward to the photos.

Try TKCs on it - see below - yeah I know it's a rear tyre on the front but...

No they wont do ,they are either metzler tourance or michelin sirac's .The minimum i would recommend would be a tkc80 or similar .

I am not trying to put anyone off as it the lanes are not that hard if you have the right equipment ,you will have a very hard time on road going tyres as they wont grip in the mud or grass and your day will be ruined ,i would prefer if you had the right tyres on and enjoyed the day more as it is quite a drive down here for some of you

dawesdave 18-02-11 22:05

could you take my name of the list pls

There is room for three or four more riders.....those of you who have had to drop out because of the stringent tyre regulations, maybe you could have a re-think, and get some tyres put on?

For those who wish, you are welcome to stay over on the Saturday night....

jasext 01-03-11 10:10

This is most of the route you will be doing ,there is a TTR 600 a few XR 600 and a transalp ,they all enjoyed because they had some sort on knobbly tyres on ,the streams arent deep so dont worry and this was after a few days of heavy rain

I haven't confirmed with Jase re if those tyres are "acceptable", but I am sure they will be suitable, if you choose something like the Mitas T-644, or E-09, E-10 style, rather than a "racing wets" style, (meaning that the Mitas E-07 & E-08 are a no-no.) I will get Jase to confirm this for you, on this thread.
http://www.trelleborgtyres.co.uk/category_Trail_1.htm

It's really so that you, and the rest of us, enjoy the rideout more, afterall,.....its no fun if you're struggling.

Finn, are you a Novice?

The weather can be very unpredictable at this time of year, so our tyre requirements should cover us.

I will finalize everything nearer the time, and you are very welcome. (subject to Jase's tyre approval confirmation). You can be in the bunkhouse, it has a log burner.

We now have reached a "nice number" for the rideout :D, but there is still room for one or two more.....maybe dawesdave on a ten :glasses10:????

If this weekend goes well, we may do a two-day rideout weekend later in the Summer, say August time,...but we will see how this one goes first.

.....the BBQ is from an excellent butcher- 10 (or maybe less) for a steak+ whatever bbq, and full Welsh brekkie! (That includes two night accom. as well if you want it.)

Room for a couple or three more, it's not too far off now, - so get your name down quick!

If you have never been in this part of Wales before, it's about time you did.

NOVICES WELCOME!!

jasext 17-03-11 20:44

I have done the route i will be taking you guys on last sunday ,the weather has been fantastic over the last week or so ,but it was still a bit slippery in places ,i am in the process of putting video's up of nearly almost all the lanes .This is in the opposite direction i will be taking with you as some of the uphills you will struggle but it is much much easier coming down ,took a guy on the new XT1200 around some on Friday
Look in ride reports on the South Wales TRF forum ,

Only got a little ktm 400 now Jon ,did have a 690 enduro aswell ,had to sell it a month ago due to financial situations and due in for another major op ,so out of work at the moment .Not sure i will buy another Tenere to be honest ,great bike for travelling around 3rd world countries and such but cant see me doing that in the near future, and fell in love with the power and weight of the 690 ,so probably would buy another one of those .
Did look around for a cheap XT660R to use as a daily ride ,but not many about and a little over my budget

You wil be fine ,i took my XT around the same lanes but doing it the hard way and with my gammy leg ,and thats why i recommended the knobbly tyres for this ride

Having seen the vids nice and wide lanes you have not like up here so just looking at what protection for the bike on top of what I have already but think only stronger gear lever toura****? And headlight protection? Any advice on those?

jasext 18-03-11 22:49

What do you have Finn , 660R or Ten ? what protection have you already got ?

finn 18-03-11 23:24

Tenere engine bars metal mule. Handguards. Mm bash plate some other cosmetic bits as well but standard gear lever (made of cheese) and no headlight protection;)
What do ya think

jasext 19-03-11 00:18

Thats a lot of protection ,just had a bash plate and good quality handguards on mine ,you will be fine ,there are no deep rutts to damage the gear lever anyhow

richardsracingmad 25-03-11 09:05

Well its only just over a week away now, and there is room for a couple more riders.....so, last chance to come along with us, please let me know by the 27th March.

I will be calling everyone after the closing date to arrange the finer details..

And a big thanks to Jasext for leading the rideout...

jasext 27-03-11 23:09

I cant believe hardly anyone has taken Rich up on this very very good offer ,he is basically giving you guys free lodgings ,sorting nearly everything out and you are being guided around some of the best trails and views in the uk ,all free of charge .There is a local guide that charges people nearly 200 for upto 8 people to do these trails .

Could it be your all turning into Ewan and Charlie wannabes' taking over the bmuu guys

I am sure the rest of us will have fun :eusa_dance:

redbikejohn 27-03-11 23:27

Unfortunately I have to ferry brother in law (who is over from sa) down to his parents. So this one I can't make. So far all the xt660 and adventure mag runs clash with something :cry[1]:

richardsracingmad 28-03-11 09:37

Final List of riders:

1. jasext
2. richardsracingmad
3. tomsdad
4. biker-nut
5. pockey
6. finn

I will be in contact with all of you again this week by telephone, before the rideout, hopefully you all know where to go now for the bbq/overnight stay. I will have a marker system to help you find the location.

(Tomsdad--I need your phone number..pm sent.)

Jase..why don't you join us for the evening, and stay overnight? There's plenty of room. I'll treat you to a fine Welsh Black (or similar) steak and jacket, and beer!

The weather has generally been very dry for the time of year, (and the rivers are very low,) however if we do get a soaking on the way there, we can dry out our clothing with the two log-burners.

As a reminder, you need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow case, casual clothing and shoes, washbag/towel and a (head)torch. Plus Beer! (or whatever you drink in the evening). And don't forget the Camera!
Also- Armour for the rideout, proper boots and of course "knobbly" road legal tyres.

I will have a First Aid Kit, and tyre levers etc., just in case.

Hopefully Jase knows a good spot for lunch- which I think we should all treat him to.

I'll speak to you all soon-it's going to be fun!!:yahoo:

Tomsdad 28-03-11 11:25

Thanks for the info Richard.....roll on Saturday, can't wait.

And a mega thanks to Jase and Rich for sorting this out.

Cheers,
Andy.

richardsracingmad 28-03-11 12:38

pockeys' XTZ750 engine has stuffed up....he's getting the crank re-ground etc. and waiting for that to come back, so it may be the five of us.

It's a good number of riders though....it should be easier with a small group.

Tony660x 01-04-11 13:34

Best of luck guys & gals with the weekend, I hope you have loads of fun and take loads of photos and possibly a JaseXT special video as well?

Wish I was going but you rejected me for inapropriate equipment!!!

Enjoy.
