Had a play with some carbon fibre that I bought to do the fake wood in my new 10 plate Mondeo titanium X Sport did the stained Leos first then the airbox side then the heel plate what do you guys think

Looks good mate.

Looks superb! I wouldnt mine some on my Tenere!

Ni3ous 21-01-11 21:21

Wow, looks great. Would do my pipes too?
What about heat resistance on exhaust?
How can I know I bought the right stuff?

Guys thanks for the comments as far as I can see from what ive done so far the wrap should be ok on exhausts but time will tell I havnt used it yet but the leo,s dont get that hot only warm,

As far as it goes for fitting th stuff I only use 3M carbon wrap it can be bought off ebay in various lengths and widths
I use a hot air gun and a really sharp craft knife you simply cover what you want making sure you dont get any creases then heat up with the hot air gun it then becomes very very malable and you are able to bend it into shapes you wouldnt believe let it cool and trim job done iv attached a pic of the car dash I did just to show what can be done by a complete novice on his first attempt

That looks superb both on the bike and car. I am tempted to have a play with it for my X.

Mike Wright 23-01-11 13:18

I take it you used the adhesive one from ebay?

Fiddich 23-01-11 14:14

Do you think it is suitable material to be used as tank protection? I'm thinking about the tank/knee area. Would the finished edges look ok or would it fray etc?

Ta,

Ian.

Adventure Boy 23-01-11 21:11

Mike yes mate the adhesive stuff is the one I use but make sure its the 3M stuff as its supposed to be the best

Fiddich I would say yes mate but id cut it with scissors to get a real nice finish and heat it with a hair dryer so as not to scorch the paint work on the tank, if it does fray after time just heat it again with the hair dryer and pull it off its easy to remove aswell,

Did another couple of bits over the weekend and honestly the more you do the more you amaze yourself, this stuff really bends into shapes and angles you wouldnt think possible once heated

Go on guys give it a go and post pics of your results would love to see them
