2011 Tenere prices

Just seen on MCN that the 2011 price for the Tenere will be 6999 and the R1 just shy of 14000!

I think Yamaha prices are getting out of hand, the new Triumph 800 XC looks good value compared to these prices.

Anyone who bought a Tenere a couple of years ago would seem to have made a good investment :023:

I should think the ticket price in the dealers will be some what less than that .

just my thoughts 14k for a r1 is a joke

i wouldnt get to worried ..about new prices ..

theres always someone that pays the new price ..
probably that they want the warranty
thenquite a few do 1600 miles in 12 months after fitting 750 quid worth of bits find that their old bandit was quicker or fall off doing a u turn

and then get rid of it as it will explode on its 2nd aniversary

and then sell it to me for 4300 quid :teaandcake[1]:

dont get too concerned there will be another along very shortly

im being honest ..the 660 will never fare well 2nd hand ..as the general press will brainwash the public that 100 horse power and abs are the making of a great adventure bike

then the reality .. it runs out of steam at 80 the gear spacing is to tall ...my god it vibrates alittle ...single cylinder imagine that ..grr

ok im only new to the tenere ..but not new to thumpers ..
if you dont intend to use the bike for what it was designed for .. it will fall short of the 100 hp twins and triples

so it will constantly be served up cheap by road biased buyers .
for that reason i fear the long term production life of this bike in its present form ... grrr

it may end up as sought after as the africa twin ..ten years from now

Glad I bought mine brand new in the crate for 4900 in September. When buying a bike new, decide what you are prepared to pay and ring 10 dealers offer to buy it there and then for 3 grand less than list over the phone and I assure you, one of them will take the money if its near month end.

I ALWAYS buy new cars and bikes this way and treat a list price as only something that people with pots of money pay.

I said well Richard Branson ses everything is negociatelble if I spelt that correct :confused5: . So I wrangled the deal on 0% after the deal closed the week after it finished . so if doese help if u go @ the end of the month :laughing11:

Your 2011 XTZ is dirt cheap compared to the Ozzie prices. I bought my 09 XTX in April 2010 & paid 8000 pounds for it.

A 2010 model XTZ bought right now in Oz costs 8500 Pounds.

Glad i brought mine in 09 exdemo modle ,And Blue/yellow the best Lookin one. But i think yamaha are going have to think about the price?
Take it easy

the yen is worth half as much as it was 3 years ago and is now at a 10 year low. Yamaha and all the other Japanese manufacturers aren't just putting the prices up for the hell of it.

Drzee 12-01-11 14:04

Agreed that exchange rates have had a big impact.

It's not looking too rosey for Yamaha as they have to stick up their prices with presumably less sales, hopefully things will improve soon and not affect the UK bike industry too hard.
