No matter what the yen does Yamaha need realistic pricing or else they will stop selling bikes.... no ifs no but's
putting high rrp just puts off potential buyers no matter what deals are available, when the bike magazines compare a 660 single against 800 twins and triples people just wont take them seriously. Plus the teneres are being built in Italy so surely Yamaha europe should be setting the bikes prices. I love my Ten but if i was looking to buy now : 1) i couldnt afford 7K 2) if I could I would look at the triumph or BMW as both are available for just over 7k they are different machines but there is no doubting that they currently offer better value for money better still i would buy a ten second hand as they can be picked up for 3.5k and spend a few quid on the obvious upgrades ie kev mod , dna and hyperpro springs. I still don't get it though the New price's keep on rising but used prices keep going down ??? i would have thought they would rise too ahh well i hope Yamaha keep on producing great bikes and get their pricing back to reality. |
In South Africa the 660Z is selling for 8,950 quid and that was the 2009 model! Don't know what the new price is yet.

You would have thought wouldn't you..... My theory, and it's just a theory, I have no evidence to back it up. The Yen is poor, so the price in some parts of the world is going to be artificially inflated due to exchange rates (Uber has a point though, they aren't going to sell at a loss), the increase in the VAT is going to increase any bike by 2.1% of it's last ticket price (2.1% is the same as takinging the 17.5% off and adding the 20%). I think the key thing to remember is the bikes are assembled in Italy/Spain, not built. It's a bit anal, but it's important as I belive the parts are still coming in from Japan so the Yen rate is still important. Second hand bikes,,,, If you consider that many bikes are a luxury item (you might dissagre, and I certainly would!), in that if your circumstances change and it comes down to choice, the wifes car is of more use than your bike to the family, then the bike is going to go. Given that it is a straight sale, and probably due to people needing the cash, then they are going to let the bike go for less, urgo, the prices keep falling... dealers offer less for the bikes as they need to sell these on in competition with private sellers etc etc. It's also a slack time to trade bikes, great time to buy if you are in the market. The fuel prices may have some limited impact on bike sales in the spring, but I suspect it'll be the 125cc market that will pick up. It's a funny old world. |
Darren you right aye , but for me I have now I got it for and as a work horse and play bike .
