i've riden road bikes in the snow and ice many times over the years, it's a judgment call really, it can be done.

i've used bandits and gsx750f's and both have handled moderate snow on normal road tyres with no issues. now i have the XT i'm actually looking forward to snow this year.

just be smooth and gentle with your controls. and try keep to the fresh snow if it's only a inch or 2.

Once the snow has been packed down, unless you have studds or chains forget it.

This is more from a road riders point of view.
