Some aesthetic questions and mods.

Right guys....

4 things i wanna change/look into on the XTX

1. Bottom mudguard, what's it's function/purpose ?
2. Fork springs, is there an alternative to Kev mod (which i have already) to stiffen the front end up. Even if it's new springs/internals i'll give it a whirl
3.Top fork shroud, can it be removed? There's one on Ebay for an 09, but glancing at mine yesterday it seemed integrated ?
4. Shock spring/alternatives ?

I put 15w fork oil in mine with Kev spacers and droped the forks through the clamps 10mm I would think the lower mud gaurd stops some of the crap being thrown off the back of the wheel up the engine.

I assumed that too, but wondered if the brace had any function to it ? I can live with the dirt side of things as i'm obsessively clean with the bike and don't do rain.

Ironically Im looking for a low front mud guard like the xtx..small black plastic bit. I wonder if it wil fit the Tenere? There are no bike shops here for 30 miles so when I get near one Im going to see if the distance apaprt from the fork legs are the same on both bikes and how it fixes.

Replaced my front springs with hyprpro ones and changed the fork oil to 15w and this has made the front alot better

Hmmm found a couple of options. Just a question now whether to go for just the front end for now or do front and rear at the same time.

Well, i've just spent an hour or so stripping, removing and sorting some bits.

First thing off was the air filter cover (silver piece in middle of bike), closely followed by the rear pillion rails and the footrest/heel plates. Then onto the front and removed the lower mudguard. sadly i've had to leave the metal bracket in place as i get the impression it may be functional... but will research that more. Minor concern is that the mudguard was integrated into the fork lower covers, which gives them the potential for flapping about maybe ?

Last job was exhaust relocation, which i managed to get about 1" higher. They're still obviously not wonderful... but a fraction better.

All in all a decent lunch-hours work i rekon. Before and after pics
