I'm glad you are ok, and like you say, bikes can be repaired/replaced... but b0ll0cks - are you ever going to get on the trip?!

It will be all the more sweeter when you do of course!

Good luck,

Jenny xx

We'll definitely go!!!
We are even more pumped. The only problem is when... as winter comes in Europe and as for the weather in Africa we should start no later than february-march to be able to cross Cameroon-Congo area in relatively dry times. Also that means a more expensive transport to Morocco by van.

I must say that in the first 2 nights I was feeling quite down but with some help from friends and family and especially from my gfirend Ana by the 3rd night I was already dreaming at your Ultimate Tenere :P !!!
Will see how things will turn out after all.

Cheers,

Ionut

Hi Ionut. I've sent you a lengthy email. Suffice to say, sorry to hear about the accident, but very glad you are ok. The trip will still happen and be all the sweeter. Just take time to recover, stay positive and lean on your friends here and at home.

Thanks a lot Mike for your honest words here and also in your email.

Bad luck

Totally bad luck... I know how you must feel. Technically there will be a lot of delays on getting the bike back to original state due to how insurance companies work here. I hope the car was insured, and if so, at a "good" company. Might be faster if you're getting a total damage and get a new bike. If so, give me a call 'cause if you're sticking with the Tenere as the bike for the trip - i have a buddy that's gonna get his on the market - details if you need them.

Nooooooooooooo...thats really bad luck but the important bit is you are ok as the bike can be repaired replaced. Take a steady recovery and hope you are back 100% posting more plans.

Bloody idiot drivers whats the matter with them!......... Take it easy and keep your chin up... Your be back running 100% soon

Mr White, I must have overlooked this tread, as I saw the news first on your blog and commented there. Don't let this get you down.
If you want a fast route into Africa, our ship leaves 13 nov from Antwerp to Dakar (7 days at sea), maybe there's still room left. http://www.mafratours.eu/96392/98192.html
We will be on this ship with 2 tenere's.

I’ve found a really good deal on ebay for those levers. You need to order the clutch for a GSXR 600 97-03 and the brake for a FJR1300 04-08. The guy was really helpful and the shipping was pretty fast from HK. They are quite cheap for 35 pounds but they do the job rather nicely. Here’s a link with his ebay shop:

Ive found some on ebay as the link no longer works. Did the levers require any work or do they fit straight on as the guy thinks Im joking when I ask for 2 different ones? I found some here Item Id:330502604489 ..thanks

mrwhite 06-12-10 09:32

Hey Mike,

as the sellers don't have specific Tenere parts you have to order the clutch for a GSXR600 97-03 and brake for a FJR1300 04-08 and they'll fit perfectly, no mods needed.

Cheers,

Ionut
