After stalling xt660x, it won't start

hey guys,

Well I just picked up my brand new XT660X.
The dealer warned me that it could stall because its new.

so yeah, it stalled... no problem.... BUT.. and it wouldn't start.
I had to stop, turn of the power and wait 20 seconds before it would start again.

is this because I tried to start it when I was still in gear and rolling?
To me it sounds more like the FI system is not doing its job.

ps. the bike was warm.

You can start the bike while it's moving no problem. But mate, it's a brand new bike...take it back to the dealer and tell them to sort it out PRONTO!

Welcome to the club btw :)

yeah, I'm going to ride it to work tomorrow.
If it still gives me problems, i'm going to take half the day off and let the dealer sort it out.

Many bikes have the stalling issue, but I thought they had fixed that on the newer versions. Mine's an '06 and it stalled a couple of times in the first 2-3 weeks, but she started again immediatly with no need to stop. That was fixed after a few minor adjustments on the bikes DIAG screen

Yours may just be a simple setting that needs adjusting too ;)

yeah, I do expect the FI system settings because there is no issue when its still cold, but thats for my dealer to sort out.

The new ones should not stall, I bought a new XTX last week & have ridden 600 miles & it has not stalled once.

Make sure your idle speed is set to 1500rpm when it has warmed up.

Its running lower than 1500 for sure.
but can I fix that or do I have to take it to the dealer?

You can raise/lower idle speed by turning the idle screw. Here it is...

Don't forget you will need the Rev counter to set it at the right speed.
