Is this only for diag stuff or for everyday use ?

Yes we have always had a rev counter, you can ride with the rev counter on the dash, it will reset back to normal when the key is cycled.

hey guys,

Well I just picked up my brand new XT660X.
The dealer warned me that it could stall because its new.

so yeah, it stalled... no problem.... BUT.. and it wouldn't start.
I had to stop, turn of the power and wait 20 seconds before it would start again.

is this because I tried to start it when I was still in gear and rolling?
To me it sounds more like the FI system is not doing its job.

ps. the bike was warm.

When you say it wouldn't start...do you mean it turned over but didn't fire, or nothing at all happened when you pushed the button?

Reason I ask is, for a while I couldn't get my Tenere to start at all if it was in gear - push the button and nothing happened. Which was odd, until I realised it was actually just the position of the clutch switch that was a bit off, meaning it wouldn't start with the clutch pulled right in, but if I let it back out 5mm it would.

If it's turning over but not firing, then it is obviously nothing to do with that. But if it's not turning over at all then it might be worth taking a look at the clutch switch.

1/ Press both SELECT & RESET buttons and then switch ON Key switch, keep SELECT & RESET buttons pressed for at least 8 seconds. Display then changes to "DIAG". Release SELECT & RESET buttons.

2/ Press the SELECT button once until CO displays, press SELECT & RESET buttons again & hold, CO1 should display.

3/ Once selected CO1, switch on the kill switch & crank the motor. Once started the rev counter should be in the right side of the LCD screen.

thanks guys, you saved me from a long walk today.
I haven't set the rev yet, but thats for the dealer to do.
And if they don't I will play with it a bit.

the bikes stalled this morning and it took me 30 minutes to get the idle speed to the point it wouldn't stall.
