think i have just blown the engine

i have just got in from work after pushing the damn thing 3 miles

the bike will start BUT as soon as i put it in gear it kills the engine and no movement,

i am seriously pissed off and the AA wouldnt come out to help me

Check your side-stand switch (jammed in).

not to try and upset you but i had the same thing on my WR450 and it ended up being the piston rings had gone.

Hope its not so drastic

If it starts then you have not killed the engine, why wouldn't the AA come out ?, check your side stand switch

mrkris 27-10-09 19:22

thanks motonacio will have a look

yeah i think the same jim but i was only doing like 70mph max :(

i think i might end up breaking it for parts if it is engine trubble

mrkris 27-10-09 19:45

rite its not the side stand switch YET as i havent got another actule switch i have wd40y it and pushed it in a cupple times but its not that,

i dont know they wouldnt send one to me because i was too close to a petrol station or summat?? yeah 3miles away that i have to pass to get home lol

I read somewhere the side stand switch wiring can be disconnected and the wiring joined together. I have'nt tried it but it might help to definately rule out the stand switch.

Correct :045:

so would you guys point to the side stand as the problem? nothing els?

motonacio 27-10-09 20:24

As your bike starts and runs until you try to engage gear it strongly suggests that it is something to do with the safety system which prevents riding with the stand down. The owner's manual has a flow-chart type table showing the conditions for correct operation of the ignition etc. It may be a bad earth or similar but is very likely to be the continuity of the side-stand switch.
