Yes, if you replace the standard indicators with LED ones then the flash rate will be too high. To fix this you need to load up the indicator circuit with some big resistors (sometimes included with the LED indicators you buy), or like I did you can buy a replacement flasher relay, which is not cheap (about 20 ukp) but is plug and play and a much neater solution.

For the indicators, LED ones, you will need to fit a LED Flasher unit, Yamaha specific or else the std flasher will make the indicators flash way too fast...

Motrax make one which i have used on my XT before and works well.....

Or do what kev did, made his own resistor for the leds.

Hi there 450X
I got a flasher unit from Startline in Edenvale, JHB....was around R 70 I think. I also bought my LED tail light and indicators there. It was about R 1000 for the lot. The flasher unit's 'plug' is not the same as the OEM on the XT. I destroyed the original, but kept the plug, and soldered it onto the LED unit, sealing with silicone. I am not to sure if I bought to cheap, or if I did the mountings to 'rigid'. After 800k's, my taillight was destroyed internally, and my rear indicators came loose inside.....because of vibration. I am busy changing it now.
