PCV + autotune
Freez (or anybody else who might know)
Do you know if the mods you are talking about (modded intake with standard exhast) can be addressed with the auto-tune module on a base zero map? I particularly like the idea of being able to do my own tuning work on the road vs paying for the dyno every time I change something. many thanks, keep the good work comming! agis |

Just another update.
Built a custom fuel map for a XTZ tonight. It had the DNA stg1 and 2 adaptor, set of Akra pipes and PC5 on it. Sad to say, but my mate Jon's XTZ with DNA stg 1 and 2 adaptor with stock pipes and PC3 made actually more HP and torque for about 90% of the RPM range than the Z with Akra's on it. The only place the Akra equipped bike made more power was under 3500 and after peak HP to RPM limit and then it hardly made 1 HP more. Most if the time it was about a 0.5 or so HP gain. The pipes sound great, but it does not seem to add much more power wise. Jon's Z with what we expect the DNA stg 3 filter will give actually destroys the Akra equipped Z with the DNA stg 1 and 2 filters on it. Same as with the X or R XT, seems the DNA filters and powercommander by far gives you a better gain than a set of performance pipes, plus it is way cheaper than the aftermarket pipe upgrade. |

The akro's you have fitted are they the yam ones with cats fitted or catless ones? |
Freez is right, the most HP I got from my Carbon Can's on my XTX was at peak 2.5HP, the DNA filters & Power Commander combined made the most HP.
The Can's do offer a weight saving & sound good, but don't expect big HP from them. Any Dyno sheets Freez? Between the 2 Z's |
Below is the dyno run comparing Jon's Z (red) with stock pipe and DNA stg 2 versus another Z with Akra's and DNA stg 2 (Blue). Both have Powercommanders and custom made maps.
Jon's Z actually makes more torque and HP where most people will ride the bike normally. The Akra's had the quite insert removed and they where the Yamaha versions. Not sure about the cats, assume nothing else is changed beside the removal of the quite inserts. http://www.quadparts.co.za/dyno/XT66...tockvsakra.jpg |
If they are the yam ones they have cats fitted, i chopped mine apart to remove them, they restrict the flow alot...
