Oh yeah, looking good! Really interested in your feedback. =) Looks like these works with the oem pannier racks (the OTR don't as far as I know).

Here's another system from the same place:

OooH er missus.....

A photo of the right hand side too would be good, I always worry what the other side will look like, with the bike being designed with the twin outlet pipe, I worry it will look like something's missing.

Maybe they'd do a 'blank' can in the same style ?? you could use it for storage, fuel etc with a bit of work......

Andy12 08-07-09 12:30

Once installed , I'll post some photos from the right side....
For the time being, here's another one.:occasion14:

Indeed they are, from the manufacturers site. Andy hasn't installed his yet. :p

stoo24 08-07-09 22:27

The can doesn't look tight enough to the bike to allow my Touratech pannier rails to fit. Looks like we're still waiting for a manufacturer to take their time and produce a pipe that follows the line of the original. Surely can't be difficult?? I guess these end cans are pretty universal and can be thrown on almost anything?

I would say that is the problem, most single can systems are much longer than the space on the Ten and to 'level' the can out would mean it sticking out the back of the bike, as well as a tighter bend in the link pipe that would have a negative affect of gas flow/performance (listen to me, as if I know anything!)

Probably why Acrapovic went for a two pipe system similar to the Yamaha one....

Our hope still rests with Simon.......

fozzy17 09-07-09 08:21

I think i prefer the single pipe than my twin acro's, can anyone also confirm if the yam panniers will fit with the single pipe conversion?

Andy12 09-07-09 12:42

Guysguys.guys.lets not be marketing victims..

The Tenere 2008 doesnt have a twin exhaust system. It has a single exhaust, with two holes at the end of the silencer.
Its just for design aesthetics. Akra or Remus is trying to sell us, two silencers in the place of one.

Not to me thank you. :fing06:

As long as X-Racing replied that this system is designed for Ten 2008, I trust them not to have any problems with the exhaust valves of the cylinder head , and keep the sound under 93dB (this why the terminal is so long).

The dimensions of the Oval diameter are 12,3cm x 9,5cm. so probably no problems with my Hepco frame.

Also here is another patented single system. You can see a friends bike with the left side terminal, of a twin Remus Hexacone system for a Yamaha Fazer 1000.

Was installed from his Yamaha dealer , enriched the FI from 6 to 10, installed a aftermarket air filter (I think K&N) , installed a custom-made fitting bracket , and insured him that he will have no problems at all, for his Athens-Greece to Edinburgh-Scotland trip next week.
As you can see, the Trax panniers from SW-Motech fit perfectly.

In any case , since it seems , that I m the first in here to fit (soon) the X-racing, let me be the R&D dept for XT660.com for a while , and I ll be back with more.

Greetings from Greece

Andy,

That Remus can on your friends bike looks interesting.

Do you know what sort of db's its putting out?

Thanks,

Nick.

I took my Tenere to OTR last year to retro-fit its single can to see if it clears the stock pannier rack. It just did, though I did not buy or install it because the owner had to leave and I never returned to get the single exhaust.

I do notice that OTR and the X-racing single can don't flow nicely with the line of the backend of the bike, i.e. it looks slightly out of place. In addition to GULG's comment, I am guessing it's because it minimizes any kinks or bends so it maximizes air flow. But if I can choose, I would go for better look than better flow. Yes, I am shallow :) Anyone?

Right.....

NickW909 10-07-09 19:11

I rekon this would fit:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=330341445122

Its 420mm long (not inculding the endcaps). You would need to make a new link pipe for it tho'...

Nick.

mac-cos 11-07-09 00:08

I once cut and shut a Motad Can for an FZR1000 to fit a KTM 640Duke.
Reckon a uncorked KTM LC4 enduro can would be a likely candidate for similar treatment to fit the tenere, and as the engine size/HP is similar it wouldnt be restrictive , though the ktm logo would have to be erased.

zezecastro 27-07-09 17:05

could you post pics please?

Andy12 20-08-09 09:54

Well the can has been fitted yesterday .much much better performance, especially much more torque.
Youll get to see 7k rpm at a glance on the highway, and less gear changing when in city traffic

The sound is much more better and a little bit louder, but no dramas with the neighbors

That looks good Andy. I just ordered OTR pannier frames and I''m about to order X-Racing silencer as well. Any ideas if it will fit with the frames as it is or do I have to modify it?

How come it's so cheap compared to other brands? Is there anything "wrong" with it?

Hi there....

As far as i can see from the photos at OTR's site , you will not have any problems fitting the X-racing.You remove the originals , you put on the new one and that's it.

I have the X-racing on my Ten for almost 3 weeks now, no problems till now at all.
Its a little bit louder , and you will have more bangs and booms.....but it will be like riding another bike....:headbang:

As far as i know its the second single system on the market...till now OTR had the monopole , so they could price their system as high as they wanted to.....and no I'm not an X-racing employee or something like that....:hello:

Does the silencer get hot to touch, would it burn soft lugauge if it rested on it, unlike the standard ones which have a plastic shield over them.

Thanks for that info, I am going to be using my Oxford soft luggauge and Givi 52l top box and a small tank bag on my european camping trips :campfire:

Is the exhaust marked .... NOT FOR ROAD USE.....

josephau 20-09-09 17:09

I would be interested to know if the stock luggage rack and panniers still fit with the X-racing exhaust.

You 'll have to e-mail X-Racing for this...

Hi

Yes, the X-Racing's silencer fits indeed with the OTR panniers frames. See the pic.

Jami

n0ct0 19-10-09 23:16

They look good, but from their own website:

Xracing would like to remind you that its silencers are not approved for road purposes, you can only use
them either on racetracks or for racing purposes. Xracing hence declines any responsibility related to any misuse.

That is why I got Leo's. When I went to Italy a few weeks ago I phoned him to see if I could visit the factory and if I liked the exhaust could I buy one, the answer was no, so went to a shop that sold leo's and done the deal with him and he sent them over from Italy to England for a Tenner, and they were alot cheaper then anyone in England inc P+P, although slightly more then X-RACING by about 40 after X-racing wanted 40 euros p+p

DickyC 20-10-09 15:55

There a shed load lighter than the factory fitted exhausts! Am supprised how heavy the cat is.

I ride a lot with my son on the back of the bike as my bike is also my primary form of transport. With the pipes not as tucked away as the originals it looks much more likely that a pillion will get abit cooked from time to time. Also even without a cat that can will get hot to touch and certainly hotter than the originally fitted. So not for me at the moment.

Always interesting to see the new bits materialise though and hear peoples opinion. At the end of the day thats what is great about bikes, there is no right or wrong, just what suits the rider and his/her style (or lack of it in some cases!)

josephau 20-10-09 21:33

After a long research and contemplation, I believe I've decided to put off the exhaust mod for indefinite future mainly because the stock one suits me dandy right now. If I change, I prefer a single can, but there are only two official choices, being OTR or X-racing. Unfortunately neither fits perfectly what I'm looking for, ie price, road legal, not aligning with bike perfectly, require more mods such as a power commander or any one or more of the above. To top it off, reading comments from Scottnet's RTW experience, the stock can worked fine with low grade to leaded fuel, I will wait for a while until the right one comes along.

stuxtttr 21-10-09 14:11

would like to see some more pics of the x racing on a bike side back views etc but from their site they look affordable :) 240 euros
