Paul Clarke's missing clamps
am I being dumb? my lovely set of carbon stubbies arrived today - all seems in order, except for the clamps at the lower end of the assembly. The ones on the OEM pipes are soldered in place (2009 model XTX). Seems like game over for the moment? Oh, and do the gasket inserts need to be transferred from the old pipes to the new? The instructions included were kind of brief (non-existent). Beautiful work though. Objects of lust, even if I can't fit them...

The tubing on the lower end of my left CCC seems to be larger in diameter than that coming from the manifold, enough for it to be loose and occasionally rattle. The clamp that came with the cans wont tighten any more and the jubilee clamps (as recommended in the link above) 'give' when I try to tighten it up properly, and fail. Would it be an idea to take the can off and bash the flange bits slightly so they close, or does anyone have an alternative solution? |
