Beginner question...

I know this is going to be a bit incongruous in a forum dedicated to exhaust mods, but...what's the point of putting on a new exhaust?

Heh, this isn't a bit of trolling, I just don't know.
:)

I'm by no means an expert, but I'll have a stab at this one.......

1, Makes the engine flow better (normally combined with air filter/fuelling mods) = a little more HP

2, Reduce weight

3, Nicer/louder sound

Nick.

I would add safer to #3 (lets other road users know you are there)

4, Bling

Yep pretty much what all has been said.

On the XT range the HP gain is suppose to be small but on other bikes for eg a suzuki bandit changing the exhaust can get around 8-10bhp with changing anything.

Also more torque in there with Bhp.

Bling is always a big factor

I wander the other way to be honest - the quieter and less bling the better for me.
:)

I doubt a change would make a vast difference in weight, and staying off the beer for a couple of weeks would be substantially more effective, heh.

I'm doing a trip around Europe in summer, so I'll ponder the full air filter / fuel / exhaust changes then. :)

I think there's a difference of around 8kilos between standard and a set of CCC's.

Someone has posted up somewhere that the saving was only .8 of a kilo ,so there is'nt that much on the tene ,but there was a huge differnece on my old R

Doh, didn't realise he was asking about the Z.

My fault, I didn't make it clear. :)
