Fuel economy
hey everyone. This might sound like a stupid question but i just want to know how many Kms some of you guys get out of your bikes till your on reserve and then how many Kms you get on reserve? i only ask because my brothers Honda VTR250 and my dads Italian scooter(dont know how to spell it as there arent many in Aus

I know the XT660x has only got a small tank compared to the bikes above but just want the reassurance that my economy is alright.I havegot about 270kms until reserve and the most i wanted to push it on reserve was 30kms.Any feed back would be great!

I have owned a 04 XTX & own a 07 XTX they both have simular reserve level times. The fuel light flashes on/off around 210kms mark & stays on at 230kms, fuel runs out around 310kms on the open road & around town I get to 200kms & then 300kms then I walk.

normally get around 140-150 miles then the light comes on and the most ive done with the light on is 30miles as i didnt wanna have to push the bike:icon_burnout[1]:

Mine around 100 km until the light, then around 43 km until it dies. Yeah, 10l/100km. But I usually push it all the time. And the bike is open like a french cheese and have PCIII fitted.

I get about 200km then the light comes on and I have DNA stage 2 + de-screened air filter, cans and a PC3 |
I get 80-100 miles (120-150km) before the light goes on when commuting, and about 120-130 when riding the lanes.
I usually fit about 10-12L of fuel once it's on reserve, which means it must go on quite early. |
I have been looking at everyones fuel range & have been scratching my head to why mine is different till reserve & have just remembered my tank has been drilled to allow a higher fuel level. I had totally forgotten about it..

But from all of this, I think a PCIII map that crazy german have pre-programmed for me is the biggest fuel eater. I plan on connecting the PCIII to a PC to have the map saved and posted on forum for investigation. I would like to see can I have a same or nearly the same performance without such crazy fuel consumption (sometimes even above 10l/100km!!). |

I had similar to the above +, a 102mm big bore with 11:1 high compression piston, stage 1 hot cam, +2mm throttle body & I got 20kms/L. I now run with the standard cam as it is far better with all the above & now get over 20kms/L on the open road. When I converted my bike from a 07 ECU with O2 sensor to a 05 ECU with no O2 sensor my fuel consumption improved greatly, I did pass this comment on one of the past threads. |

I'm already riding around town small distances and I expected the light yesterday but it haven't turned on yet. It might just be a feeling, I must do a proper test will full tank and trip clock reset to see is there any difference at all. |
