So, how do they decide what is too loud ??

for an MOT it's at the examiners disgresion, I know they stick the sound level on the bikes ID badge thingy, but is it law that that is the level, surely they can only legislate on a set upper level rather than per bike - bit confusing this, does anyone know for certain ?? :gal:

Cheers Motonacio, but that's out-of-date, bit of a give-a-way when it says "NB: these limit values will be tightened from 2003" this is the point I'm trying to make. Further, as a motorcycle rev's increase so does the noise output, and there's nothing on the DOT site about that either.

The manufacturers stamp indicates a noise level at a set RPM.

It's still confusing!

In the absence of later legislation then those limits apply. A reasonable defence should one be needed is that there is no later information available to the public.
