DNA Filters - Stage 3 project continued...
I would like to thank you Dino (DNA) for helping us get more power out of our XT's. These filters do work, I have spent many hours on the dyno trying to get a smoother & more powerful XT & could not have done it with out the stage 1 & 2 filters on my XTX.
Even with a few of us running big bore 102/103mm high compression pistons with high lift cams, these filters still produce the goods. Marcel & myself have tested the +2mm bored throttle bodies & the stage 1 & 2 filters still offer great volume flow with great HP gains. So there is no doubt in my mine they work. Dino what are the gains in HP with your new XTZ filter & top plate? Thanks Kev |

Thank you also for the nice comments,:smilies0942: I will put together a complete presentation, including air flow data, dyno runs, PC3 maps, a YouTube Video etc. for the Z Just give me some time until the race season starts officially (April). We also have some good ideas under development for the XT 660 R & X..! Stay tuned. Regards Dino |

The bigger we go on the XT660 motor modifications the more air flow we are going to need. I am looking into a pod filter set up to get better uniformed air volume/flow as in the Raptor 700 motors. |
DNA STAGE 3 XTX/R complete air box MOD

Removing the air box from the X / R means that many things must be relocated, that again means high cost for a complete application, because we will need to provide everything, as a kit. So we are talking about a STAGE 3 complete modification.! Sounds good and to be honest we are working on it!!!! Already. Do you believe there is a market for it ? I would like to hear your opinion. Thanks Dino |

I know there is extra HP to be gained from the air box & have proven this to myself on past dyno runs, I did a dyno run with stage 1 & 2 filters then without any filters in the air box & there were HP gains to be had. I have run many dyno runs testing all the XT mods & have found this motor needs air & lots of it, depending on what engine mod one is running. I have also looked at the XTX/R's air box in detail especially the left side of the XT's air box & can't see why a stage 3 filter could not be fitted there. I am keen to see what you guys come up with. |

I have your stage 1 & stage 2 filters. I fitted 2in1 exhaust system and the manifolds come too close to the airbox cable and plastic so it melted it a little. Removing the airbox completely would eliminate this and I would be delighted to see this as soon as possible! You have me as a buyer already! As far as I understand this kit should be a little bigger because it replaces the airbox space... Any estimates on this? At least roughly? |

Stage 3 complete modification? If I understand what you mean correctly and I hope I am not stepping over the boundary mentioned by Captain (if so, I apologize in advance), I would be eager to see such complete setup along with a single-can exhaust, be it DNA manufactured or partnered with someone else, plus a Tenere-specific dyno mapping. Perhaps you could offer a permutation of options here. As you probably know, there is only one after-market single-can exhaust out there (by Off-the-road in German), while there are plenty of choices of dual cans. The quality of the exhaust itself is good but the link pipe and the setup seems to be too out of place. It would be great if DNA by itself or along with other partners offers such 'complete' system - everything one needs for taking care or improving the entire airflow - I would be all for it. I currently only have your filter, but would look forward to further DNA's developments after the race season begins. Many thanks. |

I was looking at the Raptor set up something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/700-RAPTOR-YAMAHA-GYT-R-GYTR-AIR-FILTER-W-ADAPTER-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em63Q2el1177Q QhashZitem360141995856QQitemZ360141995856QQptZMoto rsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |
That's no good. I want the airbox out! :)

Hi Kev, DNA also offers a similar ATV kit and I checked it today, unfortunately it is impossible to fit inside the XTX/R air box; again the only possible solution is the complete air box design. In two weeks time a dealer will bring over at DNA a XTX 660 modified 700 with Akra exhaust, PC3, DNA stage 1 & 2, it will be the platform for us to develop the complete Stage 3 DNA air box. I think we have to start a new topic at the XT 660 X section to continue this project, as we are at the XT 66O Z section. Please advise. Regards Dino |
I look forward to your results.
As I mentioned there are a few of us running bored out throttle bodies, Marcel recently had his XTR on the dyno with a bored out throttle +2mm it gave a 3.4hp gain, so we know this motor loves air flow. http://www.xt660.com/showpost.php?p=86673&postcount=35 |
Im also in for a stage 3 kit for sure when you release it!after my high lift cam which had very good results my next mods will be +2mm TB and the stage 3 air filter/kit.I hope with these 2 mods i will get very close to 60hp on the wheel without touching the head and piston

DNA STAGE 3 complete air box MOD
Kev,
I know, DNA has started already studying the project, it is thought so many things have to be relocated, but we will give it a try. As the project develops I will post the progress and keep all informed. As soon as we will have the first 2 working prototypes I will send you one over for you to play with, OK? One more explanation concerning the stages: DNA Stage 1 - this is a replacement filter that will fit the air box without any modification, No fueling adjustment is necessary. DNA Stage 2 this is a bolt on modification of the existing stock air box, Fueling adjustment is necessary in most cases. DNA Stage 3 this is a complete new air box modification that will replace the existing stock air box. Major fueling reprogramming is necessary. I will also post flow data as we test. Regards Dino |
