Best on road/off road tyres for R??

My tyres have just about given up the ghost after 6200 miles since september!!! :)

i was wondering has anybody found a particular type of tyre a good compromise for the R with offroad and on road capabilities??

cheers all!:applause:

Pirelli mt21 but you only get abot 1000 miles on them

hmmm seems id be better off sticking with something like mine then!

To be honest they have only started majorly wearing since i met the midland riders!! :)

Any more for any more?

Conti tkc 80 ,michelin t63 are about the best of both worlds but havent tried either just going on what people say

Cheers man! ill keep those in mind and gander at pictures too! :)

TKC80 are great. Mine is a Z, but it became a whole new bike with the tkc. Not as good as the MT21 or Karoo in mud and sand, but as dual sport tires they rock. Basically onroad tyres with offroad pattern.

minted!

Take it Z n R have same sized tyres then?

or am i being blond again?

EDIT: How much am i looking at for the set?

Heidenau K60. Less known tyre (but this is changing rapidly), but very good compromise!

Yes same size. The TKC cost more then mt21 for example, I think I spent 130 on a set here in Sweden.

Vee Rubber.

Big article in the TBM mag a few months ago. Tested alongside the MT21, AC10 etc etc and came 3rd out of 20 well known tyres/brands.

I have them on my off-roader. Fairly good on the road, excellent off the road.

All down to preference really, not sure though if you would get 6K out of them for 70 all in incl postage :)

Cheers

hmm sounds good but i do more on road riding than off road so i do need something slightly more suited to the roads but im only talking sort of 55% road 45% off road if you get what i mean!

Bump I need a new back tyre now....:YellowCrazy_J8GDC6:what is the best I will do 90% on road and the rest off road Sand/dry mud?

Michelin sirac,metzler tourance

Peatbog 09-04-09 19:24

my choice from jase's suggestions would be the the tourance - i had the sirac on my R and the back one was shagged after 3k miles. got tourance on the Z and 4k miles in there's still loads left. i also prefer the handling of the tourance.
